Chuck Norris
Chuck Norris, born Carlos Ray Norris on 10 March 1940 in Ryan, Oklahoma. Tang Soo Do champion, founder of Chun Kuk Do, and one of the most recognisable martial artists and action stars in the world.
After serving in the US Air Force he devoted himself to martial arts, achieving black belts in Tang Soo Do, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo. He became a multiple Tang Soo Do world champion before transitioning to Hollywood, where his friendship with Bruce Lee opened the door - appearing as the villain in The Way of the Dragon (1972).
His film career - particularly Missing in Action (1984) and Walker, Texas Ranger (1993-2001) - turned him into a global icon. He used that platform to promote martial arts, physical fitness and discipline to millions who might never have otherwise encountered combat sports.
Chuck Norris became a cultural phenomenon - the subject of endless jokes about his invincibility - but behind the legend is a genuine martial artist who dedicated his life to the craft.
