Kazushi Sakuraba
Kazushi Sakuraba was born on 14 July 1969 in Akita, Japan. One of the most beloved and technically gifted fighters in MMA history - and the man who single-handedly dismantled the myth of Gracie invincibility.
He defeated four members of the Gracie family: Royler, Renzo, Ryan and Royce. His 90-minute war with Royce Gracie at PRIDE in 2000 - which he won - is considered one of the greatest MMA fights ever contested.
Sakuraba's style was built on catch wrestling, blended with elements of judo and submission grappling. He was creative, unpredictable and endlessly entertaining - a fighter who seemed to enjoy the chaos of combat.
He competed across PRIDE Fighting Championships, UFC, Heroes, Dream and Rizin, and remains one of the most iconic figures in Japanese combat sports history.
