Lucien Carbin was born on 7 September 1952 in Suriname and built a legendary career in the Netherlands. The first European Kyokushin Karate champion - a title that alone would secure his place in combat sports history.
But Carbin didn't stop there. He went on to become a world kickboxing champion and earned European titles in both Savate and Muay Thai - one of the most versatile fighters the Netherlands has ever produced across four different disciplines.
His impact as a trainer has been even greater. He has coached 49 world champions across various combat sports - a figure that speaks for itself and places him among the greatest trainers in European martial arts history.
Carbin's knowledge, built from genuine mastery across multiple disciplines, gave him unique insight as a coach. His methods have shaped generations of Dutch and Surinamese fighters.
