Michael Spinks
Michael Spinks was born on 13 July 1956 in St. Louis, Missouri. Olympic gold medallist (Montreal, 1976) and the first reigning light heavyweight champion to move up and claim the heavyweight title.
He dominated the light heavyweight division from 1983 to 1985, holding all the major titles. Then he did what many said was impossible - he went up to heavyweight and outboxed the formidable Larry Holmes in 1985 to claim the IBF heavyweight title, becoming a two-division world champion.
His brother Leon Spinks also held the heavyweight title, making them one of boxing's most celebrated sibling pairs.
Spinks' career ended dramatically in 1988 when Mike Tyson knocked him out in just 91 seconds - one of the fastest title fight finishes in heavyweight history. He retired after that fight, walking away as one of the most technically gifted boxers of his era.
