Chan Wah-shun (1836-1906) was a Wing Chun master in Foshan, Guangdong Province, and the primary teacher of Ip Man. A student of Leung Jan - the legendary Wing Chun master and herbalist of Foshan - Chan Wah-shun taught Wing Chun publicly in Foshan and accepted Ip Man as a student at age 9, beginning the lineage transmission that would eventually spread Wing Chun worldwide.
