Dan Severn

Dan Severn was born on 8 June 1958 in Coldwater, Michigan. UFC Hall of Famer and one of the true pioneers of MMA - a decorated amateur wrestler who helped establish wrestling as a foundational discipline in the sport. He represented the United States in international amateur wrestling competitions before transitioning to professional wrestling in promotions including WWE and NWA, where he built his reputation as The Beast. In MMA, Severn was a dominant force in the early UFC, winning multiple tournaments and defeating some of the best fighters of his era. His wrestling-based control game demonstrated that elite grappling could neutralise almost any opponent - a lesson that shaped how MMA developed. Inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2005, Severn continued giving back to the sport through seminars and coaching long after his competitive career ended.
