Yes, kickboxing offers you a full-body fitness workout that burns a lot of calories . In this article, we're going to talk about why kickboxing is such a good way to lose weight. Kickboxing has become very popular in recent years. Many gyms, such as David LLoyd, Fitland, Basic-Fit and Fit4Free, have started offering group lessons where you do boxing/kickboxing workouts. But why is kickboxing such a good way to lose weight?

If you look at famous kickboxers like Rico Verhoeven, Alex Pereira and Nieky Holzken , you will see that these are two very well-trained men. Now I cannot guarantee that you will look exactly like these two top athletes, but what I can guarantee is that if you can find a good boxing/kickboxing school with a good trainer , you will notice that you can burn fat very quickly. You can visit your local gym and see if they offer group lessons where they give boxing training. Or maybe you are a real outdoors person, then you also have the option to join an outdoor bootcamp team. These are often smaller groups of people who like to train outdoors. With these types of group lessons, they often also offer boxing training and you participate in a fitness circuit. Losing weight with kickboxing is also possible here. Skipping rope

Most boxing/kickboxing schools do this during the warm-up. When skipping rope, you work on your legwork (being able to hop on the ball of your foot) but also on your fitness. You also train your shoulders by jumping longer and rotating your arms, which causes acidification in the shoulders. The fun thing about skipping rope is that you can make it as difficult as you want, by using tricks and sprint rounds you ensure variation during skipping rope. Shadow boxing

This exercise is also used in the warm-up, but also in the cool-down. The idea behind shadow boxing is that you spar in your head, it is important that you keep this as realistic as possible by keeping moving, keeping your hands high and not using too long punch combinations (you don't do this in a real fight either). Also with shadow boxing you can make it as difficult and challenging as you want. You can do sprint rounds and you can also shadow box with dumbbells, this trains your shoulders. This helps with being able to keep your hands high.

Push-ups

For a good workout you also need to train your muscles a bit. Push-ups are one of the best bodyweight workouts you can do. With push-ups you train your biceps, triceps, chest muscles and shoulders. It is therefore an important workout to be able to strengthen your punches. You can also make push-ups more difficult/heavier as you get stronger. For example by doing clap push-ups, explosive push-ups, handstand push-ups and of course push-ups with supports. Push-ups with supports ensure that you can sink further, which means you grab your chest even more.

Abdominal workouts

Well-trained abdominal muscles not only look great, they are also very functional in boxing. They help with better balance and better ability to take punches. That is why abdominal muscle training is definitely applicable to good boxing/kickboxing training. You can train your abdominal muscles in many ways. From classic sit ups to leg raises on a bar. You can also do a lot of variation with abdominal muscle training by experimenting with multiple exercises. A very good abdominal muscle exercise that I recommend is using a Trim wheel. With a trim wheel you train stability in your abdominal muscles. Make sure that you tense your abdominal muscles and keep your back straight.

Pads training

In this exercise you have to practice combinations with a partner who holds for you. You can do this with a pair of pads or just with your boxing gloves. With this training you learn the techniques the best because you have a training partner who helps you with the exercise, and corrects you on your technique. Training on the pads has many advantages. Firstly, you train your technique, secondly you train your reflexes. If someone gives you the order to do a certain combination on his command, then you train your reflexes and the speed of your punches. Spruce

This is probably the best way to lose weight with kickboxing, but also the scariest at first. Many people find sparring scary because they get hit hard in the face. Due to the intensive fitness training, which is kickboxing, you burn a lot of calories and build up a super good condition.
