Gel-wraps as an alternative to handwraps – when should you choose which one?
Gel-wraps are inner gloves with integrated padding on the knuckles—you can put them on in seconds, without any wrapping experience.
Classic handwraps offer more customizable support for the wrists and metacarpals and are essential for heavy sparren or competition training.
Gel-wraps are ideal for daily pad training, cardio boxing, and beginners who want to get started quickly.
Many boxers combine both: gel-wraps for light sessions, handwraps for intensive training. Both protect the hands—the choice depends on your training style and personal preference.
Most gel-wraps are available in S, M, L, and XL based on hand size, not weight or glove size.
Measure the circumference of your hand at its widest point (across the knuckles, excluding the thumb).
As a rule of thumb:
S up to 17 cm,
M 17–19 cm,
L 19–21 cm,
XL over 21 cm.

Washing and maintaining Gel-wraps – keeping them fresh
Most gel-wraps are machine washable at 30°C in a laundry bag.
Always let them air dry never put them in the dryer, as heat damages the gel inserts and elastic. After every training session, briefly air them out and don't put them straight into your sports bag.
Models with a PU outer layer (such as Booster EZ Fit and Everlast) can also be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
The Winning KVL-R requires extra care: hand washing is recommended due to its premium materials. Proper care significantly extends its lifespan.

Polycotton is a fabric made from a blend of cotton and polyester fibers. The ratio of fibers can vary, but 80% polyester and 20% cotton are often used for handwraps. For our karate and taekwon-do uniforms, the ratio is usually 65% polyester and 35% cotton.
Polycotton combines the benefits of both materials: the breathability of cotton and the durability and quick-drying properties of polyester.
Why is polycotton used?
More durable: polyester makes the fabric stronger and more resistant to wear than pure cotton.
Wrinkle-resistant: polycotton is much less prone to wrinkling than 100% cotton. This is especially useful for martial arts uniforms, as they require less ironing.
Quick-drying: polyester fibers dry faster than cotton, which is useful for sportswear and sports equipment.
Economical: polycotton is cheaper than 100% cotton.
Versatile: polycotton is suitable for various applications, such as clothing and handwraps.
More elastic: handwraps are more comfortable with a little stretch. 100% cotton has no stretch at all.
What is the background of the XPRT brand?
Are gel-wraps good for replacing handwraps?
Yes.
Gel-wraps are a good alternative to traditional handwraps, wraps, or windings. Gelwraps are a type of inner gloves, usually with extra padding over the knuckles.
Gel-wraps are best washed in a laundry bag or bra bag at 30°C or lower in the washing machine. Hand washing is actually even better.
It is important to fasten the hook-and-loop closures together before washing to prevent them from catching on other clothes or on each other. After washing, let the gel-wraps air-dry naturally. Do not put them in the dryer, as this may cause them to shrink and crease unnecessarily.
Partially roll up the gel-wraps and place them in a laundry bag or bra bag.
Wash the gel-wraps in the washing machine at a maximum of 30°C or hand wash them.
Let the gel-wraps air-dry, preferably hung out fully extended.
Do not put the gel-wraps in the dryer.
Additional tips:
Wash the gel-wraps regularly (after every training session) to keep them hygienically clean and fresh.
You can use a mild detergent if desired, but rinse the gel-wraps thoroughly to prevent soap residue.
Let the gel-wraps dry completely after washing before using them again.
