Gel-wraps as an alternative to handwraps – when should you choose which?
Gel-wraps are inner gloves with integrated padding on the knuckles—you put them on in seconds, without wrapping experience.
Classic handwraps provide more customization in wrist and metacarpal support, and are essential for heavy sparring or competition training.
Gel-wraps are ideal for daily pad training, cardio boxing, and beginners who want to get started quickly.
Many boxers combine both: gel-wraps for light sessions, handwraps for intense training. Both protect the hands—the choice depends on your type of training and personal preference.
Most gel-wraps are available in S, M, L and XL based on hand size, not weight or glove size.
Measure the circumference of your hand at its widest point (over the knuckles, excluding the thumb).
As a rule of thumb:
S up to 17 cm,
M 17–19 cm,
L 19–21 cm,
XL over 21 cm.

Washing and maintaining Gel-wraps – how to keep them fresh
Most gel-wraps are machine washable at 30°C in a laundry bag.
Always let them air-dry never put them in the dryer, as heat damages the gel inserts and elastic. After every training session, let them air out and don't put them straight into your sports bag.
Models with a PU outer layer (such as Booster EZ Fit and Everlast) can also be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
The Winning KVL-R requires extra care: hand washing is recommended because of its premium materials. Proper care significantly extends its lifespan.
Gel-wraps for beginners, women, and young people—the best choice for each group
Beginnersare best off starting with the XPRT EZ Padding or Hayabusa Quick Gel easy to put on, with good knuckle protection and an affordable price.

Polycotton is a fabric made from a blend of cotton and polyester fibers. The fiber ratio can vary, but 80% polyester and 20% cotton is often used for handwraps. For our karate and taekwon-do uniforms, the ratio is usually 65% polyester and 35% cotton.
Polycotton combines the benefits of both materials: the breathability of cotton and the durability and quick-drying properties of polyester.
Why is polycotton used?
More durable: polyester makes the fabric stronger and more abrasion-resistant than pure cotton.
Wrinkle-resistant: polycotton is much less prone to wrinkling than 100% cotton. This is especially convenient for martial arts uniforms, as they require less ironing.
Quick-drying: polyester fibers dry faster than cotton, which is useful for sportswear and sports equipment.
Economical: polycotton is cheaper than 100% cotton.
Versatile: polycotton is suitable for various applications, such as clothing and handwraps.
More elastic: handwraps are more comfortable with a little stretch. 100% cotton has no stretch at all.
What is the background of the XPRT brand?
Are gel-wraps good for replacing handwraps?
Yes.
Gel-wraps are a good alternative to traditional handwraps, bandages, or wraps. Gelwraps are a type of inner gloves, usually with extra padding on the knuckles.
The best way to wash Gel-wraps is to place them in a laundry bag or bra wash bag and wash them in the washing machine at 30°C or lower. Hand-washing is actually even better.
It is important to fasten the hook-and-loop closure before washing to prevent it from sticking to other clothes or to itself. After washing, allow the Gel-wraps to air-dry naturally. Do not put them in the dryer, as they may shrink and crease unnecessarily.
Partially roll up the Gel-wraps and place them in a laundry bag or bra wash bag.
Wash the Gel-wraps in the washing machine at a maximum of 30°C or hand-wash them.
Allow the Gel-wraps to air-dry, preferably hung out fully extended.
Do not put the Gel-wraps in the dryer.
Extra tips:
Wash the Gel-wraps regularly (after every training session) to keep them hygienically clean and fresh.
You can optionally use a mild detergent, but rinse the Gel-wraps thoroughly to prevent soap residue.
Allow the Gel-wraps to dry completely after washing before using them again.
