Winning has two versions of the CPS-500 groinguard:
CPS-500B - with hook-and-loop closure. Quick to put on and take off, ideal for boxers who train independently. Available in white, sizes M and L.
CPS-500 Lace-Up - with lace-up closure for a snug, personalized fit. The classic choice for boxers who want the perfect fit. Available in black, white, and red, sizes M through XL.

Winning groinguards are specifically designed for classic boxing. The CPS-500 offers maximum groin protection for the boxing stance—but is not suitable for kickboxing or thai boxing.
With kickboxing and thai boxing you need a smaller groinguard that allows kicks and does not restrict leg movement at all. The Winning CPS-500 is too large for this—and also offers no possibility for kicking techniques, which is required in these sports.
For kickboxing and thai boxing, we recommend a compact groinguard specifically designed for these sports.

This depends on the brand and model. You can almost never wash the cup (the hard part), nor do you need to. Most regular groinguards are worn in a type of sports brief (jockstrap). You can remove the cup and wash the brief.
The larger kidney and groinguards (No-Foul) for boxing can of course not be washed in a washing machine. This actually shouldn’t be necessary. You can simply wipe them down and dry them to keep them fresh.
Of course, you can’t wash the steel cups either. The metal isn’t resistant to this.
Is a groinguard mandatory?
Yes, usually.
A groinguard is often mandatory or recommended. For boxing, kickboxing, and karate training, for example, it is recommended. In krav maga and self-defense systems, it is mandatory. The area protected by the groinguard is naturally highly susceptible to injury.
