Intelli-Shock D3O™ is the best shock-absorbing padding in the world.
Rival Boxing Gear was the first, and is currently the only, company in the boxing or MMA world to use it.
How effective is Intelli-Shock? You get the same protection with about a quarter inch (6 mm) or an eighth inch (3 mm) of Intelli-Shock padding as with about one inch (25 mm) of other padding. This is because it uses Intelligent Shock Absorption™, a patented shock-absorbing material developed with Intelligent Molecules.
At low speeds, the molecules in D3O™ flow freely, making it soft and flexible, while at high speeds the molecules lock together to form an excellent shock absorber. D3O™ provides significantly more protection than conventional foams, making it the perfect solution to enhance the internal protection of equipment and accessories.

Rival Boxing Gear was founded in Canada in the early 2000s and has since experienced steady growth in the world of martial arts, with a focus on classic boxing. The company was founded by Russ Anber, a prominent name in the boxing world.
Anber, a respected boxing trainer and coach, had deep knowledge of what fighters needed to improve their skills and excel in the ring. With this background and expertise, he aimed to produce high-quality gear that would meet the needs of fighters.
Rival invented the V-strap with a double angle to further improve their products.
The Wrist Lock 2 is attached via a loop on both the thumb side and the other side of the glove, ensuring that both sides of a glove, from the thumb to the cuff, are evenly tightened when securing the strap. This is similar to tape applied over the cuff of a professional competition glove.
This system in a Velcro glove approaches the comfort and stability of a full lace boxing glove as closely as possible.
Bag gloves, which are used for training on a punching bag or pads, are usually much lighter than sparring gloves.
They are typically somewhere between 6 oz and 12 oz (170 to 340 grams).
Unlike regular boxing gloves, bag gloves are usually offered in standard sizes like S, M, L, and XL instead of ounces, because they are designed to fit the boxer’s hand well.
For comparison: Sparring gloves are usually between 12 oz and 18 oz (340 and 520 grams), with much more padding for protection during training with a partner.
What is the difference between bag gloves and boxing gloves?
Bag gloves and boxing gloves are both used in (kick)boxing training but serve different purposes and have distinct features.
Bag gloves are specially designed for punching bag training and pad work. They have less padding and often less wrist support, providing more feedback and faster combination possibilities.
Boxing gloves, on the other hand, are used for sparring and possibly competitions, focusing on protection and safety with thicker padding and more wrist support.
Features of bag gloves:
Purpose: specially designed for punching bags and pad training to enhance speed and precision.
Padding: less padding compared to boxing gloves for more impact feedback. The materials are of much higher density to withstand repeated impact.
Wrist support: less wrist support to promote proper punching technique. However, this is not always the case; many Rival bag gloves have excellent wrist support (Wrist-Lock 2).
Fit: smaller and tighter fit for better wrist stabilization.
Weight: lighter for faster punches and combinations. Usually 8 oz or 10 oz.
Design: usually has a loose thumb and sometimes no Velcro or laces for quick on and off.
Most of our customers actually don't want to buy more than 1 pair of boxing gloves, although that is usually the best choice . If you regularly train on a punching bag (or on hand pads), it is really wiser to purchase separate bag gloves for that. Both pairs will also last much longer as a result.

Bag gloves have a flatter striking surface and flatter padding, which transmits less impact to the wrists with correct technique
Bag gloves are smaller and lighter. This allows you to punch much faster and more precisely.
