Origin of the Hayabusa brand

Hayabusa (pronounced Ha-Ja-Boo-Sa) is the Japanese word for pelegrine falcon, which is the fastest animal on Earth (a bird of prey clocked at over 300 mph in a dive). The company was founded in 2006 by Ken & Craig Clement, David Zikakis and Luke Harris and has since taken off, literally.

Hayabusa's original offering consisted of a series of fighting gloves, rash guards and the famous iconic fightshorts . After all, these were the basic necessities for the gladiators of the modern era: MMA fighters. These products were developed with a philosophy that the products were suitable and compliant for a new era of modern athletes. Hayabusa has always held a research -based mindset in the conceptualization, design, testing and production of their products in high regard. Developing materials at the highest possible scientifically tested level is the driving force and engine behind the company.

Continuous improvement

Hayabusa wants to offer the best materials in terms of comfort, fit, anatomy and most importantly: performance and safety! A martial artist is constantly improving and developing himself. This is a Japanese philosophy that is also applied in business and at Hayabusa: Kaizen . This is the concept of “continuous improvement.”

Hayabusa has its headquarters in Ontario (Canada) and its global distribution center in the heart of Las Vegas (United States). Not entirely coincidentally, this is also the place where the biggest boxing matches and UFC galas take place. Hayabusa also has two exclusive contracts with independent sports centers in Canada, where all Hayabusa products are extensively tested.

Research & Development

Hayabusa Fightwear Inc. has funded several studies at major universities in the United States and North America. At these universities, together with independent research centers, research has been done into the safety and quality of materials used in the sports industry. Several papers, essays and presentations are the result of these extensive studies that have yielded useful data. Hayabusa's goal with these studies has been to develop materials that provide maximum protection to athletes at both amateur and professional levels and help them achieve their goals.
