Top 5 best boxing movies

The cold months are starting again and everyone is slowly going back to sitting indoors, watching TV and enjoying the warmth. Get through these winter months with fun boxing films. Today the top 5 best boxing films according to fight2win. There have been a lot of good boxing films released in recent years. These are just the films that I personally watched and genuinely liked. Robert De Niro's boxing classic Raging Bull is not listed because I have not yet seen this film, but according to many experts this is definitely recommended!

Number 5: Southpaw

The story is about the aggressive, violent boxer Billy Hope (Gyllenhaal) who manages to work his way to the top. However, when the welterweight boxing champion provokes a fight through his behavior, resulting in the death of his wife, his personal life falls apart. After he loses his home and has to give up his daughter to a foster family, he tries to restart his life with the help of an amateur trainer. Good movie, compelling story. However, the storyline can be a bit predictable. This film can be seen on Netflix and probably also available somewhere on the internet.

Number 4: Tyson

Tyson the film is a biography of one of the most famous boxers of all time. Tyson is played by renowned martial artist Michael Jai White. The film is about Mike Tyson's younger years. It starts with his childhood in Brooklyn New York and continues through his time with trainer Cus D'amato until his rape conviction. In short, you can clearly see where he started, how he became champion and also how he fell. A very good film for people who have seen Tyson, and also for people who want to see more about him. Definitely recommended to take a look. This film is an HBO film and can therefore not be seen on Netfilx, but you can watch this film on YouTube.

Number 3: Grudge Match

Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro star in this film. Grudge match is the story between Razor Sharp (played by Stallone) and Billy Kid (played by De Niro). The two former boxers return to face each other in the ring one last time. Both men managed to beat each other once and this fight will therefore be the decisive match. Meanwhile in the film the men try to promote the fight, and there are some very funny segments. In short, definitely a fun film to watch. Both men are known for their own boxing films (De Niro starred in Raging Bull, and Stallone in Rocky) so if you are a fan of either of these films it will certainly feel that way. It is very nice that these 2 actors appear more often in the Top 5 best boxing films.

Number 2: Creed

Creed is the sequel to the iconic Rocky film series. Creed is the story of Adonis Creed, the youngest son of Apollo Creed (an important character in the Rocky films) who wants to prove himself as a boxer. But his family members don't want to train him, so he goes to the man who trained his father, Rocky Balboa. Adonis Creed never knew his famous father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, because he died before he was born. Yet there is no denying that boxing is in his blood. Adonis decides to travel to Philadelphia to the site of the legendary match between Apollo Creed and Rocky Balboa. Once in town, he finds Rocky and asks him to train him. Even though Rocky has left the boxing world, he sees potential in Adonis. Creed can be seen on Netflix.

Number 1: Rocky

What is a Top 5 best boxing movies list without this classic. Rocky the movie is one of the most successful film series of recent years. With 6 parts and a follow-up series (Creed), Rocky Balboa has inspired several generations. The first Rocky film came out in 1976 and is a truly great story. The film is about Rocky Balboa, a once promising boxer of Italian descent from Philadelphia, whose career never got off the ground and now leads a hopeless life. Meanwhile, reigning and undefeated heavyweight champion Apollo Creed is looking for an opponent for the big match on January 1, 1976, New Year's Day. During a visit to Philadelphia, his manager comes up with a publicity stunt: Creed will face a local unknown boxer, who will be the center of attention for a moment in his life and will get a shot at the title, but probably also easily defeated is. The choice falls on Rocky, the "Italian Stallion". It is the ultimate underdog story and that is what makes the story so beautiful.

If you haven't seen this movie yet, go see it very soon because you have to see this movie! Of course, Rocky Balboa has released more than 6 films. Another highly recommended movie is Rocky 3 and Rocky 4. Two films in which Rocky defies the impossible. Rocky can also be seen on Netflix if you want to see it.
