Are you starting with kickboxing? Get your own gear
If you’re really starting with kickboxing, we recommend purchasing your own kickboxing gear. Not only for hygienic reasons but also because boxing gloves and shin guards for kickboxing will mold to your body.
If the kickboxing gloves and shin guards are also used by others, they will never fit as well as when you buy your own kickboxing gear.
As with any sport or hobby, there is unfortunately a financial investment involved if you want to start kickboxing. But some items are simply necessary to start kickboxing safely and responsibly.
Since you will eventually need all the items anyway, it’s a good tip to look at a complete kickboxing set. A kickboxing set contains all the kickboxing items you need. And of course, you always buy a set with a bit of a discount compared to buying the items separately.
With the largest selection of complete kickboxing sets in the Netherlands, you’re in the right place with us.
What does a complete kickboxing set consist of and which one should I choose?
When buying a Kickboxing set, you should especially think about good protection. After all, this is not Nordic Walking or Jeu de Boules we’re talking about.
The following kickboxing items should definitely not be missing alongside a good pair of boxing gloves.
Mouthguard
Very important in kickboxing is a mouthguard, also called a mouth protector or dental guard. A mouthguard ensures that when you’re done kickboxing, all your teeth are still neatly (and firmly) in your mouth.
Don’t underestimate the importance of a mouthguard, as it not only protects against damage to your teeth but also against jaw fractures and brain injuries.
Groinguard
A groinguard, also called a cup or toque, is essential for men/boys. It protects your 'best friend' from external influences and ensures you can still use 'him' for what he’s meant for.
Of course, there are also groinguards available for women to protect against unauthorized and unintended techniques aimed at the groin.
Handwraps
Handwraps, also called wraps or bandages, form a very important part of your kickboxing outfit.
They ensure your hands, knuckles, and wrists are protected. They also absorb sweat, keeping your boxing gloves fresh.
Additionally, handwraps help prevent your boxing gloves from slipping because they provide better padding. An alternative to handwraps are inner gloves.
Boxing gloves / Kickboxing gloves
Kickboxing without boxing gloves is also called street fighting and is obviously not allowed. Boxing gloves are a mandatory part of kickboxing.
Boxing gloves / kickboxing gloves come in countless types (and sizes). When choosing boxing gloves, don’t just look at the appearance.
The size (weight) must obviously be right (use the size charts on our website as a guideline). There is also a choice between leather and synthetic leather boxing gloves. We always advise choosing leather boxing gloves.
The lifespan is generally much longer. However, today there are also brands that use materials that are at least as strong or even stronger than leather.
Shin guards
Shin guards in kickboxing are not only meant to protect your own shins but also to protect your 'opponent' or sparring partner.
As a beginner kickboxer, your shins are not yet used to delivering hard kicks without protection. Also, receiving a kick from someone who doesn’t wear shin guards feels much less pleasant.
Shin guards for kickboxing are available in sock models (children), cotton variants, or synthetic leather preformed shin guards.
Ankle guards
The ankle guards used in kickboxing are tight socks that provide protection and prevent ankle injuries.
Kickboxing shorts
A kickboxing shorts are not strictly necessary in kickboxing but are useful and recommended. The kickboxing shorts are specially designed for (high) kicks.
Moreover, they are made of soft material so they don’t chafe, which can happen with regular sports shorts.
With the above items, you can buy a kickboxing set. With us, these are also available as complete kickboxing sets, so you’re ready to start training right away.
Of course, mouthguards, groinguards, handwraps, boxing gloves, shin guards, ankle guards, and kickboxing shorts are also available separately from us.
But as mentioned, the kickboxing sets are offered with a nice discount and the items always 'match' well with each other. Of course, you can also buy a complete kickboxing set in our showroom.
