Boxing

Boxing, also known as Western boxing or Western Boxing, is a very popular martial art in which two people fight each other using only their fists.

In general, unless it concerns bare-knuckle matches, protective gloves, also called boxing gloves, are worn. Furthermore, people usually wear bandages (bandages, hand wraps), mouth guards, groin protector and, depending on the regulations, a head protector.

The term generally refers to Western boxing, but boxing techniques are used in various martial arts all over the world. Sometimes also supplemented with striking, punching and kicking techniques with the legs, knees and elbows. This includes kickboxing, Thai boxing, sanda, savate and many more exotic martial arts.

One of the biggest points in the history of modern boxing is the introduction of the "Marquess of Queensberry Rules" in 1867. This has given boxing enormous momentum and today it is even Olympic and by far the most watched combat sport in the world. world.

Of course everyone has heard of the most famous boxers in history: Mike, Tyson, George Foreman, Robert Duran, Bep van Klaveren (we cannot leave out our Dutch pride here) and of course one of the greatest celebrities ever: Cassius Clay or Mohammed Ali !
