Grip on the mat. Support with every kick.

Two models, two functions – Hayabusa ankle guards are designed for martial artists who take their ankles seriously.

Hayabusa has two ankle supports, each with its own function.

Hayabusa offers two ankle guards models with a clear distinction: Footgrips Ashi 3.0 with a silicone footbed for maximum grip on the mat, and the Support 2.0 for compression and ankle support during kickboxing and thai boxing.

Both models are made from lightweight polyester with a compression effect and are washable at 30°C.

The Footgrips Ashi 3.0 are designed for MMA and grappling

The Hayabusa Footgrips Ashi 3.0 stand out thanks to silicone under the foot - providing unprecedented grip on the mat during takedowns, sweeps, and ground work.

The sleek 4-way stretch material follows the contours of the ankle and foot, while the compression effect supports the ankles. Available in S/M, L and XL - also excellent for kickboxing and thai boxing.

Support 2.0: compression for kickboxing

From Hayabusa Support 2.0 are classic ankle supports made from lightweight polyester with an improved 2.0 design for better compression and ankle support.

They keep the ankle joint warm and reduce the risk of injuries during kicking and blocking. Available in S, M, L and XL for adults—washable at 30°C.

Frequently asked questions — Hayabusa ankle guards

What do you wear ankle guards for?

Ankle guards are worn to provide additional ankle support. Thanks to the extra reinforcement from the ankle guards, the risk of injuries is reduced. They provide a compression effect and also strengthen the vulnerable metatarsal bones.

Why do Muay Thai fighters wear ankle guards?

Muay Thai fighters wear ankle guards to provide extra protection against injuries. They are one of the few types of protective gear allowed in a Muay Thai fight.

In Thai boxing (and kickboxing promotions such as Glory, Enfusion, etc.), fighters wear handwraps, boxing gloves, a mouthguard, and a groinguard. Nothing else. Shin guards are not allowed, but ankle guards are. These provide that little bit of extra protection fighters can use.

Good ankle guards help strengthen the ankle and prevent it from buckling during kicks or movement. Ankle guards also help absorb some of the impact, protecting the bones and joints in the ankle from damage.

Muay Thai ankle guards are essential for anyone who wants to train Muay Thai seriously. They provide support and protection for the ankles, which are vulnerable to injuries during kicks and other movements.

There are many different brands and styles of Muay Thai ankle guards available, so it is important to choose the right pair. Fortunately, we have already selected a range from many brands for you.

It is also a good idea to ask your trainer or training partners whether they have any tips and which ones they would recommend.

What is the background of the Hayabusa brand?

Hayabusa (pronounced Ha-Ja-Boe-Sa) is the Japanese word for peregrine falcon, the fastest animal on Earth (a bird of prey recorded at over 500 km/h in a dive). The company was founded in 2006 by Ken & Craig Clement, David Zikakis and Luke Harris and has literally taken flight ever since.

Hayabusa is headquartered in Ontario (Canada) and has its global distribution centre in the heart of Las Vegas (United States). Not entirely coincidentally, this is also where the biggest boxing matches and UFC events take place. Hayabusa also has two exclusive contracts with independent sports centres in Canada, where all Hayabusa products are extensively tested.

Hayabusa aims to offer the best materials in terms of comfort, fit, anatomy and, more importantly, performance and safety! A martial artist is constantly improving and developing themselves. This is a Japanese philosophy that is also applied in business and at Hayabusa: Kaizen. This is the concept of “continuous improvement.
