To wear inner gloves or bandages or not? That is a frequently asked question in our shop. In our martial arts shop, we always advise to use bandages or inner gloves under the boxing gloves. Children up to and including 9-10 years old can best use inner gloves. This is so much easier. The slightly older children and adults hit harder and therefore benefit more from a bandage. We explain the how and why in this blog!
Why should you use inner gloves or a bandage?
When boxing and kickboxing , training on the punching bag or kick and punching pads, the hands and wrists have to endure a lot. But your boxing gloves also have to endure a lot. Inner gloves and bandages provide extra protection for the hands and ensure a longer lifespan of your boxing gloves.
5 Reasons to Wear Bandages or Inner Gloves:
- absorbs sweat
- provides extra support
- provides extra protection for the knuckles
- your boxing gloves will last longer
- your boxing gloves will stay smelling fresh
Why do we recommend adults to choose a bandage?
If you put on bandages correctly, you will get a compact fist . As soon as you put on a bandage, you will immediately feel like you can hit harder because of that compact feeling. You fix all the bones in your hand and wrist and that will increase your punching power. The bandages also absorb the sweat so that no sweat can get into your gloves. This keeps the gloves smelling fresh and the quality of the filling optimal.
The benefits of bandages:
- Better protection for the hand and fingers
- Compact fist which gives you greater punching power
- They are usually cheaper
- Absorb the sweat from the hands
- Slightly elastic so that your hands do not get pinched

When should you choose an inner glove?
There are various types of inner gloves. The simple inner gloves that you can quickly put on and the inner gloves that still have a piece of bandage attached to them. This length is shorter than a normal bandage and is mainly intended to give the wrist extra support. The inner gloves from XPRT, Hayabusa, Fumetsu and Booster, among others, are equipped with these extra bandages. These inner gloves are also equipped with a gel padding. This provides the knuckles with even better protection.
We have several simple inner gloves in stock. These are ideal for children and people who do not have the patience for bandages.
The following gel-padded inner gloves are ideal for adult men and women looking for extra protection for their knuckles. Some models are available in multiple sizes, others are one-size-fits-all.
