ITF Taekwon-do, semi-contact martial art. Who are taekwon-do gloves for?

Taekwon-do gloves are specifically designed for semi-contact martial arts:

ITF Taekwon-do - the primary sport. All models are suitable for this. For official competitions, only the Top Ten Superfight (leather, BAYFILL® padding) are permitted.

Budo and other martial arts - the Fight2Win Safety Punch (PU) and Top Ten Pointfighter are also used in other budo sports such as karate and other semi-contact disciplines.

Children: all models are suitable for children. The Fight2Win Safety Punch in PU is the most popular choice for young taekwondo practitioners due to its lightweight construction and wide size range starting at XS.

Adults who box competitively: the Top Ten Superfight in leather is the only choice for official international ITF competitions.

Keeping Taekwon-do gloves clean and hygienic. Care by material.

Taekwon-do gloves are shared during training and competitions—hygiene is especially important.

After every training session:

  • Leave the gloves open to dry in a ventilated area
  • Use an antibacterial spray to prevent bacterial growth

Polyurethane (Fight2Win Safety Punch, Top Ten Pointfighter):

  • Wipe with a damp cloth; do not submerge
  • PU is easy to maintain and dries quickly

Foam (Macho Dyna, Macho Warrior):

  • Wipe with a damp cloth
  • The elastic closure on Macho gloves makes them more hygienic than hook-and-loop fasteners—less contact with sweat and skin

100% Leather (Top Ten Superfight, Fight2Win Safety Punch Leather):

  • Wipe with a damp cloth after use
  • Periodically treat with leather grease to keep the leather supple with intensive use
  • Do not dry in direct sunlight

What are taekwondo gloves, and what are they used for?

Taekwondo gloves—also called safety punch gloves —are semi-contact gloves with an open palm design. They protect both the wearer and the opponent during semi-contact techniques. They are mandatory for ITF Taekwon-do sparring and competitions and are also used in other semi-contact martial arts

Collections

Does the Safety Punch glove also provide thumb protection?

Yes, the Safety Punch glove has an integrated thumb protector. This is an important safety feature that protects the thumb during unexpected contact in semi-contact sparring and competitions.

Collections

Why are taekwondo gloves red and blue?

In ITF Taekwon-do competitions, the two participants are distinguished by color: red (Hong)andblue (Chong). The gloves and safety kicks must be in these colors so the referee can award points correctly. Fight2Win sells all models in both competition colors.
