MMA Fight Shorts at Fight2Win – from UFC regulations to the training mat

At Fight2Win, you’ll find a carefully curated range of MMA fight shorts from the best brands. The modern MMA short has come a long way—from the chaotic early days of UFC 1 in 1993 to the streamlined Unified Rules of MMA established in 2009.

To this day, these regulations remain the reference point for clothing manufacturers such as Hayabusa, King Pro Boxing, and Booster. Our collection includes models from XPRT Fight Gear, Booster Fight Gear, King Pro Boxing, and Hayabusa—suitable for training, sparring, and competition.

Board Shorts or Vale Tudo Shorts – Choosing the Right Type of MMA Shorts

There are two main types of MMA shorts. The most common is the boardshort-style: loose-fitting shorts with a drawstring for extra grip and a 4-way stretch panel on the inside of the thighs for maximum flexibility—this is the type you'll find in our range.

The second type is the Vale Tudo short, also known as spats or compression shorts: tight-fitting shorts made of spandex/polyester that fit closely around the body. Long spats are now banned in professional MMA matches because of the extra grip they can provide.

The XPRT Hybrid 2.0 and Hayabusa series are classic boardshort models with integrated stretch technology. The King Pro Stormking Basic has a professional, competition-focused look. The Booster Skull and Joker are graphic designs for athletes who want to stand out.

Choosing the right MMA shorts size – from XS to XXL

MMA fight shorts are selected based on waist size. Our range runs from XS to XXL. MMA shorts are generally worn tighter than kickboxing shorts, as shorts that are too loose can hinder grappling and ground work.

Always check the size chart on the product page. Not sure? If you have an athletic build, choose one size larger for extra comfort around the hips.

Feel free to visit our showroom in Waddinxveen to try them on. Check in advance which trousers are in stock!

MMA fight shorts in a variety of styles—from basic to graphic

Our MMA shorts range offers a mix of styles. The XPRT Hybrid 2.0 features a sleek, functional color scheme. The Hayabusa series offers models in black, green, and gray with a subtle hexagon pattern—a professional look that matches the style of top fighters.

The Booster Skull and Joker are eye-catching graphic models for those who want to stand out on the mat. The King Pro Stormking Basic has a competition-focused look.

Interesting: in the UFC, fighters are required to wear Venum apparel (the deal has been extended through 2029), but outside the UFC cage, the choice is entirely free.

What are the rules for MMA shorts—from the UFC to amateur competition?

According to the Unified Rules of MMA, established on 30 July 2009 by the Association of Boxing Commissions, all participants must fight in approved shorts without shoes. Boardshorts, cycling shorts, Vale Tudo trousers, and kickboxing trousers are permitted. Speedo-style briefs and long trousers are not allowed.

In the UFC , there is also an exclusive clothing policy through Venum—personal sponsor logos on fightwear are not permitted. These restrictions do not apply to training and amateur sports, of course, so you are free to choose from our full range.

Washing and Maintaining MMA Shorts – How to Keep Them Functional for Longer

Wash your MMA shorts at a maximum of 30°C, inside out and without fabric softener. The 4-way stretch panels in the crotch are sensitive to high temperatures and may lose their elasticity if washed too hot. Always air-dry the shorts and do not use a tumble dryer.

After washing, check that the Velcro fastening, if present, is securely closed to prevent damage to the fabric. With proper care, high-quality MMA shorts from brands such as Hayabusa will last through many hours of intensive training.

Frequently asked questions — MMA shorts

How do I care for my MMA trousers?

Care instructions for MMA shorts:

  • Always check first whether the MMA shorts have washing instructions on the label.
  • Wash inside out to keep the prints looking good.
  • Do not use fabric softener.
  • Wash separately or with similar colors.
  • Machine wash cold, at a maximum of 40°C; hand washing is preferred.
  • Choose a gentle or delicate cycle with a low spin speed if you use the washing machine.
  • Do not use a tumble dryer.
  • Air-dry the shorts, preferably hung up at full length.
What size MMA trousers do I need?

MMA shorts generally come in “regular” sizes, from XXS to XL.

Each MMA shorts brand and model has a unique size chart (by the size selector and at the bottom under the contents). This provides the best possible guideline for what we think is the best choice for you for that specific brand and model.

Please note that there are no separate children’s sizes. These are generally XXS, XS, and S.

What material are MMA shorts made of?

MMA shorts are generally made from a combination of materials, each with its own function.

Polyester is the most commonly used base material: lightweight, strong, and quick-drying.

Some models also contain nylon for extra durability and stretch. The combination of these materials makes shorts that are comfortable, move with you, and withstand intensive use—both in training and competition.

Are the MMA shorts suitable for men and women?

Yes.

The MMA shorts are unisex, so they are suitable for both men and women.
