Key choices when selecting protectors for martial arts

When choosing the right protector, there are a few things to consider. Below we briefly explain per category what to keep in mind — so you can quickly make the right choice.

Which handwraps do I need as a martial artist?

Handwraps are one of the most essential protectors for every boxer or kickboxer — they protect your wrists, knuckles, and hand joints during every training session.

Polyester-cotton handwraps The classic choice for advanced athletes. Polyester-cotton handwraps (3.5–5 meters) combine durability with a slight stretch, making them comfortable to wrap around the hand and wrist while providing maximum support. They are washable and reusable. Top brands: XPRT handwrapsWinning handwraps and Rival handwraps. View all handwraps.

Gel-wraps and inner gloves For athletes who want to put them on quickly, gel-wraps are ideal. They offer less support than handwraps but are much faster to put on.

Knuckleguards A knuckleguard is a soft protector worn over the knuckles, in combination with your regular handwraps. Ideal for athletes who want extra knuckle protection during injuries or if you punch hard. View all knuckleguards.

What is a mouthguard and do I need one?

A mouthguard protects your teeth, jaw, and lips during contact. A mouthguard is mandatory for every sparring session — and highly recommended for every contact training.

Which mouthguard should I choose? Most athletes start with a thermoplastic mouthguard: you shape it yourself by briefly dipping it in hot water and biting down on it. This already provides a good fit at a low price.

For maximum comfort and protection, choose a mouthguard from a specialized brand like Shock Doctor or SafeJawz.

Mouthguards braces Do you wear braces? Then you need a special mouthguard for braces that provides space for the braces without squeezing. Fight2Win offers mouthguards braces in various sizes and brands.

How do I choose the right shin guard?

Shin guards are essential for Kickboxing, thai boxing, and Krav Maga. A good shin guard protects both the shin and the instep and is suitable for both training and sparring.

Pay attention to the size: too small offers insufficient protection, too large is uncomfortable. View our full range shin guards in all colors, sizes, and brands.

Which headgear suits my sport?

The choice of headgear depends on your sport and training goals:

Open-face headgear — for boxing For boxing, choose an open-face model with good cheek and jaw protection. This type offers optimal visibility and is suitable for both training and competition. Check out our selection headgear.

Headgear with facebar or full-face — for kickboxing and MMA In kickboxing and MMA, kicks to the head can also occur. A model with extra cheekbone or nose protection offers more safety. For maximum protection, choose a headgear with facebar.

Headgear for Taekwondo Taekwondo has specific requirements for headgear. Check out our selection Taekwondo headgear — specially suited for the rules and techniques of this sport.

Headgear for children For young athletes, we have specially adapted headgear for children in smaller sizes and lighter weights.

Fight2Win has headgear for all levels — from beginner to competitor — from top brands like Winning, Rival, Cleto Reyes and Twins.

Which groinguard do I need?

There are two main types of groinguards, depending on your sport:

Groinguards for kickboxing, MMA, Krav Maga, and Taekwondo For these sports, a standard cup with a hard shell is sufficient. Choose a model with an elastic band or a version that goes over your trousers. At Fight2Win you will find groinguards & cups for all martial arts.

Groinguards for (classic) boxing In boxing, punches to the groin and kidneys are allowed, so you need more protection. Choose a kidney and groinguard for boxing with extra kidney protection. Top models are the Cleto Reyes, Rival, and Winning — the Winning is the absolute top model for frequent training boxers. A groinguard is mandatory in competitions.
