Why wear ankle supports for Muay Thai and kickboxing?

In Muay Thai and kickboxing, the ankles are put under strain with every kick—both when executing the kick and absorbing blocks. Ankle guards offer two benefits: they stabilize the joint and reduce the risk of sprains, and they protect the skin against abrasions from contact with the opponent’s shin guards.

In addition, ankle guards provide compression —the ankle joint stays warm, reducing the risk of injuries. They are widely used by amateurs and professionals in kickboxing, thai boxing, and MMA.

AG Thai Black 1 or Black 2 – what’s the difference?

The AG Thai Black 1 is available in sizes M, L, and XL—for athletes who want a more precise fit tailored to their foot size. The AG Thai Black 2 is one-size-fits-most —the elastic material adapts to the shape of the ankle for a snug, comfortable fit that stays in place during training.

Both models are made from the same elastic polyester-elastane blend with a woven King Pro logo and offer the same protection and support. Lightweight—no restriction on speed or freedom of movement. Machine washable at 30 degrees.

Where is King Pro Boxing made?

King Pro Boxing products are largely handmade inThailand. The company is originally Thai, and the A-line is made entirely in Thailand. Some other products, such as the Revo series, are designed in Thailand and manufactured in China.

Why do Muay Thai fighters wear ankle guards?

Muay Thai fighters wear ankle guards to provide extra protection against injuries. They are one of the few types of protective gear allowed in a Muay Thai fight.

In Thai boxing (and kickboxing promotions such as Glory, Enfusion, etc.), fighters wear handwraps, boxing gloves, a mouthguard, and a groinguard. Nothing else. Shin guards are not allowed, but ankle guards are. These provide that little bit of extra protection fighters can use.

Good ankle guards help strengthen the ankle and prevent it from buckling during kicks or movement. Ankle guards also help absorb some of the impact, protecting the bones and joints in the ankle from damage.

Muay Thai ankle guards are essential for anyone who wants to train Muay Thai seriously. They provide support and protection for the ankles, which are vulnerable to injuries during kicks and other movements.

There are many different brands and styles of Muay Thai ankle guards available, so it is important to choose the right pair. Fortunately, we have already selected a range from many brands for you.

It is also a good idea to ask your trainer or training partners whether they have any tips and which ones they would recommend.

What do you wear ankle guards for?

Ankle guards are worn to provide additional ankle support. Thanks to the extra reinforcement from the ankle guards, the risk of injuries is reduced. They provide a compression effect and also strengthen the vulnerable metatarsal bones.

What material are the King Pro Boxing ankle guards made of, and what benefits does it offer?

The King Pro Boxing AG Thai ankle guards are made from a lightly stretchy polyester-elastane blend. This elastic material adapts to the shape of the ankle and foot for a snug fit. The light stretch provides a compression effect that keeps the ankle joint warm and reduces the risk of injuries without restricting blood flow.
