Fight2Win.nl offers a selection of different models from well-known brands such as Twins, Rival, Booster, and XPRT.

Kids headgear for boxing & kickboxing

For boxing and kickboxing competitions, we recommend, among others, the Twins headgear. It is made of top-quality synthetic leather and provides perfect protection for the head, cheekbones, and jaws. It is also reasonably priced. Equally good is the comparable Rival headgear: RHG2.

Good head protection is always important, but even more so for children who are still growing. That is why it is mandatory to wear headgear in kickboxing, thai boxing, and boxing until the age of 18.

Affordable kids headgear for boxing

If you are looking for affordable headgear for beginner-level boxing and kickboxing, you should definitely consider the kids headgear from XPRT or Booster. These are low-priced and offer good adjustment options for the boxing helmet.

Taekwondo headgear

If your child practices ITF Taekwon-do / WT Taekwondo or another budo sport, the headgear from the brands Macho, Adidas, and Bytomic are ideal. They are made of foam, easy to clean, very light, and easy to fasten with a Velcro closure.

Is headgear mandatory?

This depends on the rules of your gym, sport, or competition/tournament you are participating in.

In many training environments (such as a gym or club) the use is optional. However, it has become increasingly mandatory in recent years due to safety and insurance company requirements.

Competitions and martial arts where headgear is mandatory:

  • WT Taekwondo (youth and adults)
  • ITF Taekwon-do (youth and adults)
  • Amateur boxing (youth and adults)
  • Kickboxing (youth up to 17 years)
  • Karate (youth up to 13 years)

Who is the Headgear XPRT Competitor intended for?

The XPRT Competitor is specially designed for the smallest Children and is available in size XS. Children can train safely with it thanks to the thick padding on the chin, ears, and cheekbone and the lightweight construction that does not weigh down the head.

What is the purpose of good headgear?

Martial arts such as karate, taekwondo, boxing, kickboxing, and MMA all involve some degree of contact to the head of the practitioners. Wearing a good headgear in these martial arts is essential for the safety of the practitioner.

We especially want to emphasize that good headgear not only provides good protection but also stays securely in place and is not a hindrance!

Functions of headgear:

  • Protection against head injuries
  • Protection of the eyes
  • Increased confidence
  • Training without hesitation
  • Contributes to a safety culture (awareness of important protection)

Why is headgear important for children in martial arts?

A headgear protects the vulnerable skull, ears, cheekbones, and chin of children against punches and kicks. Especially for growing children, the risk of injuries is greater — good headgear minimizes this risk and gives parents and trainers the confidence that children can spar and train safely.

How do I know if headgear fits properly?

We usually do two things in our showroom:

  1. Quickly shake your head back and forth
  2. Tap all around the headgear. Preferably with a bit of sliding technique to create friction.

If the headgear hardly moves and at the same time doesn’t pinch, then you have the right size!
