Bag gloves or boxing gloves for the punching bag?
Most of our customers don't really want to buy more than 1 pair of boxing gloves, although that is usually the best choice . If you regularly train on a punching bag, it is really wiser to buy separate bag gloves for that. Both pairs will also last much longer.
You can of course train with normal (sparring) boxing gloves on a bag, but keep in mind that they are not really made for that. The padding of sparring gloves is much softer to ensure the safety of training with a partner and during sparring. If you then attack that padding on a punching bag, they will soon no longer offer the protection for which they were intended and built.
Advice for beginners and advanced users
For beginners, who don't train too often and don't punch too hard, it's fine to use simple boxing gloves on a punching bag . In fact, it's probably even better for that target group to use normal boxing gloves. Why? Because normal boxing gloves are bigger, offer more protection to the entire hand and are always equipped with a very important thing: the thumb protector. If your technique isn't that good yet, you'll get a bit more protection with a normal boxing glove and bad technique will be punished less.

Boxing gloves often have better wrist reinforcement, but that is not always the case!
However, always use handwraps to sufficiently strengthen and protect your hands and wrists! You can use both short and long handwraps of 250 cm or 450 cm. The most common size for adults is 450 cm (180 inch).
Bag gloves for advanced boxers and kickboxers
If you train more often and sometimes even complete workouts on the heavy bag, it is better to use separate (smaller) bag gloves for that. There are also many boxers who take a regular boxing glove in a more compact size . On Instagram, for example, you see enough professionals and former professionals training with, for example, 10 oz Winning or 12 oz Cleto Reyes on the bag.
Bag gloves are a lot more compact than boxing gloves and usually weigh around 8oz or 10oz. The padding is much denser and specially made for intensive training on the bag. These bag gloves are also often used for pad training . You can still continue to use handwraps. In fact, they are actually still recommended.

Bag gloves have a flatter striking surface and flatter padding, which transfers less impact to the wrists when using correct technique
Bag gloves are smaller and lighter, allowing you to punch much faster and more accurately.
Your sparring boxing gloves will last much longer because the padding will not be destroyed on the punching bag.
