The right size of kids boxing gloves depends on your child's weight—not their age. Fight2Win uses the following universal guideline:
2 oz - small children, under approx. 20 kg
4 oz - approx. 25–35 kg
6 oz - approx. 35–45 kg
8 oz - approx. 45–55 kg
10 oz - older children and teenagers
Please note: Sizing varies between brands. Some models run larger than others. Is your child on the smaller side? Feel free to choose a smaller size—a slightly too-small glove fits better than one that's too large and slips off the hand.

Frequently asked questions — Boxing gloves for kids
What are good brands for boxing gloves for kids?
The brands we recommend for children are XPRT Fight Gear, Booster, and King. These brands all offer different models and fits for children, providing plenty of choice.
Of course, there are also different materials, such as leather and synthetic leather. Over the years, the brands mentioned above have received the best reviews from customers in our range of boxing gloves for children.
Boxing gloves that fit well are certainly safe for children. Of course, several important factors matter: the length and width of the hand compartment and the wrist closure. If they fit securely without being too tight, they are safe to use.
Do not buy kids boxing gloves that are too large either, because excessive looseness causes them to shift, which is not good.
Wearing inner gloves is recommended for young children who sweat a lot. The sweat is absorbed by the inner gloves, which you can then wash. This keeps the gloves fresh for longer.
For older children, we recommend wearing handwraps. These provide more support and protection. It is up to the trainer to decide what is best.
Can my child use boxing gloves for multiple martial arts?
Yes.
The child can certainly use the boxing gloves for multiple sports. Sports such as kickboxing naturally use boxing gloves, but a completely different self-defense sport such as Krav Maga also uses also boxing gloves.
This of course does not apply to all martial arts, so we recommend checking with the gym where you plan to send the child.
At what age can my child start boxing or kickboxing?
There is no specific age requirement. The youngest possible age is around 4, but most gyms set the minimum age at 7 or 8. Please check with the gym you would like to take the child to.
Children usually trainwith boxing gloves of 6 oz, 8 oz, or 10 oz. Very occasionally, for really small children, there are even 2 oz or 4 oz gloves.
The following are general guidelines. For each brand and model
Choosing by age:
up to 3–4 years old – 2 oz
up to 4–5 years old – 4 oz
up to 6–8 years old – 6 oz
up to 9–11 years old – 8 oz
from 12 years old – 10 oz
Choosing by body weight
up to 35 kg – 6 oz
35–45 kg – 8 oz
45–55 kg – 10 oz

The rule of thumb is: “the heavier the child in question, the heavier the glove should be”. A heavier boxing glove generally has more padding and is therefore safer for both the hands and the training partner. Trainers also generally prefer you to use heavier boxing gloves rather than lighter ones.
