Faster, sharper, more precise.

The speedball is one of the most effective tools for timing, punching speed, and hand-eye coordination—and an essential part of every serious boxer’s training. Fight2Win carries standalone speedballs in sizes S, M, and L for boxers with a platform, as well as reflex balls on a base for those training at home without a fixed installation.

Standalone speedballs are available from Rival, Super Pro, and Cleto Reyes—in synthetic leather as an accessible entry-level option and in 100% leather for a firmer punch response and longer lifespan. The Cleto Reyes Classic and Mexico are handmade in Mexico and available in multiple sizes.

Reflex balls on a base are available from Everlast (Core Reflex) and Super Pro (Reflex-3)—both height-adjustable and ready to use without tools or installation.

Speedballs at Fight2Win – individual speedballs and reflex balls on a stand

Fight2Win offers two types of speedballs— detached speedballs that attach to a platform, and reflex balls that are used freestanding without permanent installation. Both types train speed, timing, and hand-eye coordination—but they do so in fundamentally different ways and are suited to different situations.

The detached speedball is the classic model—a leather or synthetic ball suspended via a swivel from a speedball platform mounted to a wall or ceiling. Its rebound is fast and rhythmic, making the speedball ideal for training timing, rhythm, and punching speed. Permanent installation required.

The freestanding reflex ball is a freestanding stand with an adjustable arm and a smaller ball—no installation required and ready to use immediately. Its rebound is less predictable than that of a classic speedball, making it suitable for training reaction speed and hand-eye coordination. The choice for boxers training at home without the space or option for permanent installation.

Fight2Win offers detached speedballs from Rival, Super Pro, and Cleto Reyes and freestanding reflex balls from Everlast and Super Pro —shipped directly from our own stock within 1 business day.

The large freestanding reflex ball from Super Pro can only be COLLECTED .

Loose speed bag or reflex ball on a stand – which type suits your situation?

The choice between a standalone speedball and a reflex ball on a base mainly depends on your training space and training goals.

Choose a standalone speedball if:

  • You have a speedball platform on the wall or ceiling
  • You want to work on rhythm, timing, and punching speed as part of a fixed training routine
  • You train in a (home) gym with permanent installation options
  • You are looking for the classic speedball experience found in a professional boxing gym

Choose a reflex ball on a base if:

  • You cannot or do not want to install a permanent setup You want to train your
  • reaction speed and hand-eye coordination without a platform You are looking for a
  • compact and portable training solution for home You are just starting speedball training and want to try it out first to see if it suits you
  • Fight2Win offers reflex balls on a base from

(Core Reflex) and Everlast (Reflex-3) — both height-adjustable and ready to use without tools. The standalone speedballs are available from Super Pro Rival, Super Pro, and Cleto Reyes Rival, Super Pro en Cleto Reyes.

Speedball sizes S, M and L – the smaller the ball, the higher the intensity

The size of a speed bag directly affects its speed, rebound behavior, and required skill level. A smaller bag rebounds faster and more unpredictably, placing greater demands on precision and reaction time.

The sizes in the Fight2Win range (based on the Cleto Reyes line):

S - 23x15 cm - the smallest size, available exclusively in the Cleto Reyes Classic. Fast rebound, with high demands on timing and precision. Suitable for advanced athletes and professionals.

M - 25x18 cm - the most versatile size, available in both the Cleto Reyes Classic and the Cleto Reyes Mexico. Fast enough for a challenging workout, yet large enough to build rhythm. Suitable for advanced athletes.

L - 28x18 cm - the largest size, available in both Cleto Reyes models. Slower rebound than S and M, making it easier to hit consistently and build combinations. The most accessible size for boxers who are new to speed bag training.

As a rule of thumb: start with L if you are just starting speed bag training. Move up to M once you have established a consistent rhythm. Choose S only if you are already comfortable training at M level.

Rival, Super Pro, Cleto Reyes and Everlast – the brands compared

Fight2Win offers speedballs from four brands—each with its own positioning, materials, and training purpose.

Rival A Canadian boxing brand with a strong reputation in the professional circuit. The Rival RSPD3-107 is a free-standing speedball in white synthetic leather—lightweight and quick to rebound. The choice for boxers looking for a reliable, professional-level speedball.

Super Pro The most accessible brand in the range, with two free-standing speedballs and two reflex balls on stands. The Black-Red and Retro Brown are free-standing speedballs made of synthetic leather and leather, respectively. The Reflex-3 is a free-standing reflex ball on a stand—height-adjustable and requiring no installation. Suitable for a wide range of skill levels.

Cleto Reyes The leading Mexican brand, handmade in Mexico and used by world champions. The Classic (black leather, S/M/L) and the Mexico (Mexican tricolor, M/L) are both made of 100% leather —more solid in impact response and more durable than synthetic alternatives. The choice for boxers who want the best in materials and craftsmanship.

Everlast The Core Reflex is a reflex ball on a stand from the world's best-known boxing brand. Height-adjustable and suitable for home use without permanent installation. The most recognizable name for boxers just starting out.

Speedball Training – What It Does for You as a Boxer

The speed bag is one of the most effective training tools in boxing—not for power, but for the technical skills that make the difference in the ring.

Timing and rhythm - The speed bag forces you to punch in a constant rhythm. Lose the rhythm, and you lose the ball. Regular speed bag training develops a natural sense of timing that directly carries over to sparring and competition.

Punching speed - The speed bag responds to every punch and immediately rebounds. To keep the bag moving, you have to punch quickly and consistently—which significantly improves the speed of your combinations over time.

Hand-eye coordination - The moving bag requires constant visual focus and precise punches. This trains the connection between what you see and what you do—a skill that is crucial in every combat sport.

Shoulder strength and endurance - Training with the speed bag is tougher on your shoulders than it looks. A 3- to 5-minute speed bag session is an effective addition to any boxing conditioning workout.

Concentration - The speed bag leaves no room for distraction. Every missed punch interrupts the rhythm. This trains mental focus and presence—skills that are just as important as physical conditioning.

Maintenance of speedballs

The maintenance required for a speed bag depends on the material—leather bags require a regular care routine, while synthetic bags are somewhat more maintenance-free.

Synthetic leather (Rival RSPD3-107, Super Pro Black-Red) - wipe the bag after use with a slightly damp cloth. No leather conditioner is needed. Let the bag dry completely before storing it. Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture.

100% leather (Cleto Reyes Classic, Cleto Reyes Mexico, Super Pro Retro Brown) - wipe the bag with a dry cloth after every training session to remove sweat and moisture. Periodically treat the leather with a leather conditioner to prevent drying and cracking. Leather that is regularly maintained retains its punch response and suppleness for considerably longer. Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Swivel and mounting - regularly check the swivel and mounting points for wear. A worn swivel affects the bag's rebound and may come loose during training.

Reflex balls on a stand (Everlast Core Reflex, Super Pro Reflex-3) - wipe the ball and stand with a damp cloth after use. Periodically check the adjustable arm for stability and adjust the tension if necessary.

Frequently asked questions — Speedball

What is a speedball and what do you use it for?

A speedball is a small, lightweight punching ball attached to a platform via a swivel—a hook that accommodates the ball’s rotation and rebound. You use a speedball to improve your reaction time, speed, accuracy, and hand-eye coordination. Speedball training also strengthens your shoulders and improves your overall fitness.

Which speed bag is right for my skill level?

The size of the speed bag determines the difficulty level: the smaller the bag, the faster the required reactions and the higher the skill level needed. Beginners and recreationalists are best off choosing a larger size or a freestanding speed bag, while advanced and professional boxers benefit from a smaller speed bag such as the Rival RSPD3-85 or the Cleto Reyes Classic.

What is the difference between a speedball and a freestanding speedball?

A classic speed bag is attached to a platform or ceiling using a swivel and requires permanent installation. A freestanding speed bag stands independently on a weighted plastic base that you fill with water or sand, making it ideal for home use without drilling or assembly. Freestanding speed bags are also height-adjustable, making them suitable for multiple users.

How do I maintain my speed bag?

Wipe your speedball with a damp cloth after every training session and let it air-dry. Do not use harsh cleaning products. Treat leather speedballs regularly with a leather conditioner to keep the material supple. Store your speedball in a dry place away from direct sunlight to protect the materials.

What does a swivel do?

For punching bags:

A swivel (also called a rotary joint) for a punching bag allows the bag to rotate freely. This means that the forces exerted on the punching bag are less direct and intense, extending the punching bag’s lifespan.

For speedballs:

These swivels are specifically designed for speedball training and contain ball bearings for smoother rotation.
