Leather. Craftsmanship. Made in Thailand.

Twins Special is one of the most respected brands in the Muay Thai and boxing world—founded in Thailand and used by professional trainers and fighters worldwide. The punching mitts are made from 100% Leather and are known for their direct punch response, durability, and the way they become softer over time and adapt to the trainer’s hand.

The range includes two models: the PML21 with a hook-and-loop closure for maximum stability during heavy training, and the PML10 with an open-hand design for trainers who prefer a lighter, more agile mitt for speed and technique training. Both are one-size-fits-all, both are black and grey, and both are designed for advanced trainers.

The PML21 is the Fight2Win Choice—the model we recommend for trainers looking for a premium leather punching mitt for intensive daily use in the gym. With proper care, Twins leather punching mitts last for years and only get better over time.

Twins punching mitts - PML21 and PML10

Twins Special is one of the most respected brands in the Muay Thai and boxing world—founded in Thailand and used by professional trainers and fighters worldwide. Twins punching mitts are made of 100% leather, handmade in Thailand, and known for their durability and excellent impact response.

Fight2Win carries two models: the PML21 and the PML10 —both leather, both one-size, and both black and gray. The difference lies in size, weight, and closure.

The PML21 (35x22x7 cm, 1366g) is the larger model with a Velcro closure —a generous striking surface and secure attachment to the trainer's hand. Particularly suitable for heavy training and powerful punches. The Fight2Win Choice in the Twins punching mitt range.

The PML10 (25x19x7 cm, 956g) is the compact model with a slip-on hand —lighter, more agile, and particularly suitable for speed and technique training. The slip-on closure gives the trainer a different grip than Velcro—less secure, but with greater freedom of movement.

Both models are made in Thailand to the Twins Special standard—leather, craftsmanship, and durability.

Leather – the Twins Special standard for punching mitts

Both Twins punching mitts are made from 100% Leather - the material choice that Twins Special has used for its training equipment for decades. Leather is heavier and requires more maintenance than synthetic leather or Polyurethane, but it offers impact response, durability, and feel that synthetic materials cannot match.

Impact Response - Leather delivers a direct and firm impact response. Upon impact, the material deforms minimally and quickly springs back, giving the trainer a clear feel for every strike and providing the boxer with immediate feedback on their technique. Synthetic materials are softer and more resilient; Leather is harder and more direct.

Durability - with proper care, a Leather Twins punching mitt lasts significantly longer than a synthetic model. With intensive use, the Leather becomes more supple and adapts to the trainer's hand, improving the fit and comfort over time.

Maintenance - Leather requires a consistent maintenance routine. Wipe it after every training session with a dry or slightly damp cloth and periodically treat it with a Leather conditioner to prevent drying out and cracking. With proper care, the Leather remains supple and durable.

Why Leather - for trainers who train intensively every day, Leather is the logical choice. The higher purchase price is recouped through a longer lifespan and a better training experience.

PML21 vs. PML10 - two models compared

The PML21 and PML10 are both leather Twins punching mitts for advanced trainers—but their differences in size, weight, and closure make them suitable for different training focuses.

Twins PML21 (35x22x7 cm, 1366g, hook-and-loop) The larger model. With a generous 35x22 cm striking surface and weighing 1366g per pair, it is sturdy, stable, and particularly well suited for heavy training and powerful punches. The hook-and-loop closure ensures a secure fit on the trainer’s hand, providing extra stability during hard impacts. The hybrid design combines the features of a classic punching mitt with additional support for the trainer’s wrist and hand. The Fight2Win Choice in the Twins punching mitt range.

Twins PML10 (25x19x7 cm, 956g, slip-on hand) The compact model. Measuring 25x19 cm and weighing 956g per pair, the PML10 is considerably lighter and smaller than the PML21—making the mitt more agile and easier to use for speed and technique training. The slip-on closure gives the trainer a different grip—less secure than hook-and-loop, but offering greater freedom of movement and faster on-and-off.

Which model to choose - The PML21 is the choice for trainers who catch heavy punches and want maximum stability. The PML10 is the choice for trainers who prioritize fast combinations and technique training and prefer a lighter, more agile mitt.

Size guide and fit – one-size punching mitts from Twins

Both Twins punching mitts are available in One-size - a deliberate choice that matches the way professional trainers use punching mitts.

Why One-size - punching mitts are held by the trainer, not worn as protective equipment that needs to fit closely around the athlete’s hand. The fit is therefore less critical than with boxing gloves or shin guards. One-size punching mitts are suitable for the vast majority of adult trainers.

PML21 - hook-and-loop closure - the hook-and-loop closure of the PML21 makes the fit adjustable. The trainer can tighten or loosen the closure based on hand size and personal preference. This provides extra security during intense training and powerful punches.

PML10 - slip-in hand compartment - the slip-in closure of the PML10 is less adjustable than hook-and-loop. The trainer’s hand slides into the pad, so the fit depends on hand size. For trainers with smaller hands, the slip-in fit may feel slightly looser; for trainers with larger hands, tighter. If in doubt, the PML21 with hook-and-loop closure is the safer choice.

Target audience - both models are positioned for advanced trainers and fighters. For beginner trainers or gyms looking for a more accessible punching mitt, there are more affordable punching mitts from various brands.

Twins punching mitts for boxing, kickboxing and thai boxing

Twins Special is a Thai brand with roots in the thai boxing world, and the punching mitts are therefore ideally suited for thai boxing, kickboxing and boxing at an advanced and professional level.

Thai boxing - The PML21 and PML10 are both suitable for catching punches during thai boxing training. Thai boxing generally uses kicking shields or punching shields for knee and elbow strikes; punching mitts are primarily intended for punches and fast combinations. The sturdy leather construction of the Twins punching mitts can withstand the intensity of professional thai boxing training.

Kickboxing - The use is the same as in thai boxing. With its larger striking surface and hook-and-loop closure, the PML21 is the stronger choice for trainers who also want to catch powerful kicks and knee techniques. The PML10 is the choice for speed and technique training.

Boxing - The Twins punching mitts are fully suitable for boxing-specific training. Thanks to its size and stability, the PML21 is the choice for heavier boxers and powerful combinations. The PML10 is the choice for trainers who focus on fast jab-cross combinations and technique training.

Professional use - Both models are positioned for advanced trainers and professional gyms. Twins punching mitts are a staple in professional thai boxing and boxing gyms worldwide.

Maintaining Twins punching mitts – leather requires a consistent routine

Leather Twins Special punching mitts last significantly longer than synthetic alternatives with proper care—but Leather does require a consistent maintenance routine.

After every training session - wipe the punching mitts with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove sweat and dirt. Allow them to dry completely before storing—never store them while the Leather is still damp, as this encourages mold growth and damages the material.

Conditioning - periodically treat the Leather with a Leather conditioner to prevent drying out and cracking. How often depends on the intensity of use— for daily, intensive use in a gym, once a month is a good guideline. For less frequent use, once every two to three months is sufficient. Do not use silicone- or petroleum-based products—they damage Leather over time.

Storage - store the punching mitts in a dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Leather dries out with prolonged exposure to heat and UV light. Do not store the mitts in a closed sports bag immediately after training—let them dry completely first.

Velcro (PML21) - periodically check the Velcro fastening for wear. Remove lint and fibers from the Velcro to maintain its grip.

With proper care, Twins Leather punching mitts become more supple over time and adapt to the trainer's hand.

Frequently asked questions — Twins punching mitts

What is the backstory of Twins Special?

Twins Special is a well-known Thai brand specializing in high-quality Muay Thai, kickboxing, and boxing equipment, particularly (kick)boxing gloves, pads, and thai boxing shorts.

Twins Special was founded in Thailand in 1992 by two brothers.

What are hybrid pads?

Hybrid pads are a combination of large Thai pads and small punching mitts.

Hybrid pads offer the convenience, speed, and versatility of both types of pads. This makes them suitable not only for punches and hand techniques, but also for kicks.

They are generally heavier than regular punching mitts, but considerably lighter than Thai pads.

This allows coaches and personal trainers to conduct extended training sessions covering all techniques.
