Strike vs Talon – how to choose the right Hayabusa model

Fight2Win offers several models from Hayabusa.

The Strike is the top model: microfiber upper, mesh panels for ventilation, an adjustable tension strap for direct control, and a shock-absorbing drop-in midsole. Weight: 410 g (size 42).

The Talon is the mid-range model: synthetic leather upper, the same Anchored Traction Outsoles and mid-top construction, slightly lighter at 400 g (size 42). Choose the Strike for maximum performance and responsiveness; choose the Talon for a solid all-around boxing shoe.

Hayabusa boxing shoe sizing advice – the shoes run large

Hayabusa boxing shoes run true to large. For a snug fit—as most boxers prefer—choose one size smaller than your usual athletic shoe size.

Choose your usual size if you want a roomier fit. This applies to both the Strike and the Talon. You can find a detailed size chart on each product page.

The Anchored Traction Outsoles provide grip on both wooden floors and canvas—ideal for both the gym and the ring. The mid-top construction protects the ankles during explosive lateral movements.

Maintenance and lifespan of Hayabusa boxing shoes

Hayabusa boxing shoes are made from high-quality microfiber (Strike) or synthetic leather (Talon)—both materials are durable and easy to maintain.

Clean the shoes after use with a (slightly) damp cloth and let them dry at room temperature.

Frequently asked questions — Hayabusa boxing shoes

What is the background of the Hayabusa brand?

Hayabusa (pronounced Ha-Ja-Boe-Sa) is the Japanese word for peregrine falcon, the fastest animal on Earth (a bird of prey recorded at over 500 km/h in a dive). The company was founded in 2006 by Ken & Craig Clement, David Zikakis and Luke Harris and has literally taken flight ever since.

Hayabusa is headquartered in Ontario (Canada) and has its global distribution centre in the heart of Las Vegas (United States). Not entirely coincidentally, this is also where the biggest boxing matches and UFC events take place. Hayabusa also has two exclusive contracts with independent sports centres in Canada, where all Hayabusa products are extensively tested.

Hayabusa aims to offer the best materials in terms of comfort, fit, anatomy and, more importantly, performance and safety! A martial artist is constantly improving and developing themselves. This is a Japanese philosophy that is also applied in business and at Hayabusa: Kaizen. This is the concept of “continuous improvement.

What is the difference between mid-top and high-top boxing shoes?

Mid-top boxing shoes offer a balance between freedom of movement and ankle protection—popular with boxers who move around a lot. High-top boxing shoes provide maximum ankle protection and stability during lateral movements—ideal for boxers who need extra support or have sensitive ankles. Beginners often benefit from a higher-cut model.

How do I best maintain my boxing shoes?
  • Wipe your boxing shoes after every training session with a damp cloth to remove sweat and dirt. Do not use harsh cleaning products—a mild soap with water is sufficient. Then let the shoes air-dry at room temperature, never in the dryer or on a heater.
  • After every training session, let your boxing shoes air out completely- leave them open and do not store them directly in a closed sports bag. You can also use deodorizer here to absorb sweat. A light spray with a disinfecting shoe spray after training helps prevent bacteria and odors.
  • Leather boxing shoes require periodic leather care Use a leather cream or conditioner to keep the leather supple and prevent it from drying out. Apply the cream with a soft cloth and let it absorb. This significantly extends the shoes' lifespan and keeps the leather flexible.
