Protected. Your way.

Below, you’ll find our information guide to women’s groinguards – from choosing the right material and finding the right size to suitability for different sports. We’ll help you make the right choice for your sport and level.

Women’s groin protection is different—specifically shaped for the female anatomy.

A women's cup or groinguard has a fundamentally different shape from a men's model.

The XPRT Basic Women's (polyurethane, XS-L, Designed in NL) protects the genitals, pubic area, and groin—the wider shape provides full coverage that a men's model cannot offer.

The Shock Doctor G5 women's (carbon fiber, 40 g, Junior/Adult) is the lightest model in our range—barely noticeable during training.

Frequently asked questions — Women's groin protectors & groinguards

Is a groinguard mandatory?

Yes, usually.

A groinguard is often mandatory or recommended. For boxing, kickboxing, and karate training, for example, it is recommended. In krav maga and self-defense systems, it is mandatory. The area protected by the groinguard is, of course, highly vulnerable to injury.

During exams and competitions, a groinguard is always mandatory for both men and women.

Can you wash groinguards and cups?

Yes and no.

This depends on the brand and model. You can almost never wash the cup (the hard part), nor do you need to. Most regular groinguards are built into a kind of sports brief (jockstrap). You can remove the cup and wash the brief.

The larger kidney and groinguards (No-Foul) designed for boxing obviously cannot be washed in a washing machine either. This really shouldn’t be necessary. You can simply wipe them down and dry them to keep them fresh.

Naturally, you can’t wash the steel groinguards either. The metal is not designed to withstand this.

What size groinguard should I get?

When choosing the size of groinguards, the main consideration is waist circumference rather than the cup size itself. For each groinguard, we have included a unique size chart (in the size selector and below in the product information) for that specific brand and model.
