Sporting with braces—without compromising on protection

A standard mouthguard doesn’t fit over braces. Our mouthguards for braces are built with technologies such as Brace Harbour™, Fluid-Fit, and Insta-Fit—for a secure fit that doesn’t press against your brackets.

Available from SafeJawz (one-size, thermoplastic) and Shock Doctor (junior + adult, medical-grade silicone).

Boil-and-bite mouthguards at Fight2Win – the complete range

Fight2Win sells orthodontic mouthguards from SafeJawz and Shock Doctor:

SafeJawz Ortho (one-size) - Brace Harbour™, Fluid-Fit, Jaw Secure, Remodel Tech:

  • Ortho - black, transparent, blue, pink
  • Ortho Dracula - black/white design
  • Ortho Marvel Venom - official Marvel license, black/white

Shock Doctor (junior + adult) - 100% medical-grade silicone, Insta-Fit:

  • Braces - single mouthguard (upper teeth), transparent-blue
  • Double Braces - double mouthguard (upper + lower), transparent-blue

Brace Harbour™, Fluid-Fit and LowerBlock™ – SafeJawz Ortho technology

The SafeJawz Ortho was developed in collaboration with orthodontists and combines four technologies:

  • Brace Harbour™ - creates space for upper braces, reduces discomfort, and improves retention
  • Fluid-Fit™ - fully molds around your teeth without sticking to the brackets or causing damage
  • LowerBlock™ Shield - internal barrier that protects your lips and lower braces from impacts
  • JawSecure™ Base - locks the upper and lower jaw together to absorb lateral impact

Thanks to Remodel Tech you can remold the mouthguard up to 3 times. One-size, suitable for children and adults.

SafeJawz Ortho or Shock Doctor Braces – which mouthguard is right for me?

The two brands take a fundamentally different approach:

SafeJawz Ortho - Thermoplastic, molds itself in hot water, Remodel Tech (reformable 3 times), one-size. More technology, more adjustability.

Shock Doctor Braces / Double Braces - 100% medical-grade silicone, Insta-Fit (no boiling required), ready to use immediately, junior + adult. Ideal if you don't want the hassle of molding.

Choose Shock Doctor if you want to start training immediately without molding. Choose SafeJawz if you want a more precise fit and are prepared to mold the mouthguard yourself.

Single or double mouthguard—what’s the difference?

Most mouthguards for braces only protect the upper teeth — which is sufficient for most sports.

The Shock Doctor Double Braces is an exception: this double mouthguard protects both the upper and lower teeth and is specially designed for people with braces who want maximum protection. Breathing is more difficult with a double mouthguard than with a single model.

Caring for your mouthguard

Rinse your mouthguard after each use with cold water and store it in the included Protective case. Never use hot water for cleaning—it will distort the fit.

Pay extra attention to braces mouthguards: regularly check that the mouthguard still fits properly. Teeth shift due to braces—with the SafeJawz Ortho, Remodel Tech allows you to remold it up to 3 times if the fit is no longer correct.

Frequently asked questions — Mouthguards braces

What is Brace Harbour?

The SafeJawz mouthguards from the Ortho range provide full protection for the upper braces thanks to the patented Brace Harbour™.

This works together with the Lowerblok™, protecting the lips and inside of the cheeks from the lower braces (if the wearer has them).

Brace Harbour™ creates space for the upper braces, reduces discomfort, and improves the mouthguard’s “grip”. The “Brace Harbour” on the upper side fits snugly around your brackets, keeping it securely in place.

Why should I use a double mouthguard?

More protection & safety.

A double mouthguard protects both the upper and lower teeth. It is especially suitable for people who need extra protection or for high-contact sports.

The only (and major) disadvantage of a double mouthguard is that breathing is much more difficult. This is why you rarely see professional fighters wearing a double mouthguard during competitions.

What size mouthguard do I need?

There are usually 2 sizes for mouthguards:

  • youth (up to around 11 years old)
  • adults (12 years and older)

Some brands state up to 10 years old on the packaging, while other brands state 11 or 12 years old. There is no hard dividing line, either.

Sometimes mouthguards are "one-size". This is usually the case with mouthguards for braces, in which case the mouthguard is suitable for all ages.

Is this mouthguard suitable for people with braces?

Yes.

This mouthguard was specially developed for people who wear braces.

Does Shock Doctor also offer mouthguards suitable for people with braces?

Yes.

Shock Doctor has a very good reputation for providing mouth protection for people with braces. However, you cannot use a "regular" mouthguard for this purpose.

Shock Doctor has special braces mouthguards that are suitable for use with braces. The materials in these mouthguards are medical-grade, which also explains the often somewhat higher price of these special Shock Doctor braces mouthguards.

The packaging of these mouthguards usually specifically says "braces".
