Why are kickboxing shorts and thai boxing shorts so loose?

Kickboxing shorts, as well as thai boxing shorts for Muay Thai, are designed with wide legs for maximum freedom of movement. This is essential, especially when executing kicks and knee strikes.

The loose fit and wide legs prevent the shorts from restricting leg movement, which is crucial for effective knee and kicking techniques.

Can kickboxing shorts be washed in the washing machine?

Yes.

Most kickboxing shorts can be machine-washed, but it is best to turn them inside out first. It is also best to wash them at a low temperature. You can optionally place them in a mesh laundry bag to protect them. Hand washing is, of course, the safest option.

Washing instructions:
Always check the washing instructions on the shorts’ label first. Some shorts may require a specific washing temperature or cycle.

Inside out:
Turn the kickboxing shorts inside out to protect the outer fabric and prints during washing.

Washing machine:
Choose a delicate cycle or a low-temperature wash cycle, such as 30°C or 40°C. Avoid hot water, as it can damage the fabric.

Laundry bag:
Use a mesh laundry bag for delicate clothing to protect the shorts from the movement of the washing machine, especially if the shorts have hook-and-loop fasteners.

Drying:
Simply let the shorts air-dry normally. Do not use a dryer, as the heat can damage the fabric and alter the fit.

Additional tips:
It is best to wash the kickboxing shorts separately or with similar colors to prevent discoloration and color bleeding.

What material are MMA shorts made of?

MMA shorts are generally made from a combination of materials, each with its own function.

Polyester is the most commonly used base material: lightweight, strong, and quick-drying.

Some models also contain nylon for extra durability and stretch. This combination of materials results in shorts that are comfortable, move with you, and withstand intensive use—both in training and competition.

What size MMA trousers do I need?

MMA shorts generally come in "regular" sizes, from XXS to XL.

Each brand and model of MMA shorts has a unique size chart (next to the size selection and at the bottom under the content). This provides the best possible guidance on what we think is the best choice for you for that specific brand and model.

Please note that there are no separate children's sizes. These are generally XXS, XS, and S.

How do I care for my MMA trousers?

Care instructions for MMA shorts:

  • Always check first whether the MMA shorts' label includes washing instructions.
  • Wash inside out to keep the prints looking good.
  • Do not use fabric softener.
  • Wash separately or with similar colors.
  • Machine wash cold, at a maximum of 40°C; hand washing is preferred.
  • Select a gentle or delicate cycle with a low spin speed if you use a washing machine.
  • Do not use a tumble dryer.
  • Air-dry the trousers, preferably hanging them at full length.
