Rico Verhoeven will make his long-awaited comeback at GLORY on November 4. At the Collision 6 event in the GelreDome, the world champion will defend his title against Dutch-Nigerian Tariq Osaro, who can call himself the interim champion.
As we mentioned earlier, Rico Verhoeven was actually scheduled to enter the ring against Croatia's Antonio Plazibat last spring. Unfortunately, that fight was called off when the 34-year-old Verhoeven suffered a serious knee injury last January.
What followed was months of rehabilitation, but Rico Verhoeven recently received medical clearance to return to the ring. The fight against Osaro, who is seven years younger, was scheduled soon afterward for Glory Collision 6.
It was a long road back to recovery, but I am finally where I wanted to be. I am extremely eager to return to the ring. I feel stronger than ever. I have a great deal of respect for Osaro, but I do have the advantage. Osaro is focused, big and powerful, and he has risen to the top very quickly, but there is one thing he does not have, and that is the actual championship belt and the experience that comes with a major fight like this.
We will see who wins this fight and gets to hold the championship belt aloft, but whether Rico wins or loses... Nothing but praise for this incredible Dutch fighter, who has led the kickboxing world for a decade.
