Rico Verhoeven will make his long-awaited return to GLORY on November 4. At Collision 6 in the GelreDome, the world champion will defend his title against Dutch-Nigerian Tariq Osaro, who is the interim champion.
As we previously reported, Rico Verhoeven was originally scheduled to enter the ring against Croatian Antonio Plazibat last spring. Unfortunately, that fight was canceled when the 34-year-old Verhoeven suffered a serious knee injury last January.
What followed was months of rehabilitation, but Rico Verhoeven recently received clearance from his doctors to return to the ring. The fight against the seven-years-younger Osaro was scheduled shortly afterward for Glory Collision 6.
It has been a long road back to recovery, but I am finally where I wanted to be. I am incredibly eager to return to the ring. I feel stronger than ever. I have a great deal of respect for Osaro, but I do have the advantage. Osaro is focused, big, powerful, and has risen quickly to the top, but there is one thing he does not have, and that is the actual championship belt and the experience that comes with a major fight like this.
We will see who wins this fight and gets to hold the championship belt aloft, but whether Rico wins or loses... Nothing but praise for this incredible Dutch fighter who has led the kickboxing world for a decade.
