Kung Fu

Kung Fu (China) and Wushu are two popular terms that have become synonymous with Chinese martial arts. However, the two Chinese terms have very different meanings. Wushu can be interpreted in many different ways as traditions within the martial arts. Kung Fu, on the other hand, can be used in any context—including outside the martial arts.

Kung Fu (gung fu) describes an accomplishment or mastery of techniques achieved through long and hard work. Wushu is a more precise term indicating activities related to martial arts.

Kung Fu training

Chinese martial arts training programs generally consist of the following components: basic techniques, forms, self-defense applications, and weapons training. Each style naturally has its own syllabus.

Kung Fu styles

China has one of the oldest documented histories of martial arts traditions in the world. It also probably has more styles than any other community in the world.

Moral qualities of Kung Fu

Martial arts in modern culture

Chi (inner strength)

The concept of 'gi' (also known as chi or ch'i) is based on the inner energy that all living beings possess, enabling them to move and so on.

History of Kung Fu

The origins of Chinese martial arts date back more than six thousand years. The history of Kung Fu is also centuries old. It was practiced for self-defense, hunting, and military training.

Kung Fu celebrities

Everyone of course knows Bruce Lee, the legendary actor who introduced the entire martial arts film genre to the general public. But there are more celebrities in the kung fu world.
