Kids boxing glove, which size?
It is important that children box and kickbox with the right size gloves. A boxing glove that is too small is uncomfortable, while one that is too large is too loose. The gloves can even fall off when the child lowers their hands.
The right size boxing gloves can be determined based on age and weight. We use the following universal size chart:
<25 kg – 4 oz
25 – 35 kg – 6 oz
35 – 45 kg – 8 oz
45 – 55 kg – 10 oz
There is, however, a big difference between the different models. For example, one brand fits larger than another. This difference is not in the fit but in the circumference of the glove.
If your son or daughter is on the small side or quite slender, don't be afraid to choose a size smaller. It is better for children to train with gloves that are slightly too small than with gloves that are too large.
You can always ask the trainer for advice. He knows exactly which weight suits your child best. Also, we have a unique size chart for each model.
Leather kids boxing gloves or synthetic leather?
Most kids boxing gloves we sell are made of synthetic leather. These are fine boxing gloves for children because they don't have much punching power yet. Therefore, kids gloves don't necessarily have to be made of leather. A downside of synthetic leather gloves is that they can start to smell faster.
If your son or daughter trains twice or more per week, we really recommend leather boxing gloves. The XPRT boxing gloves are a good choice!
Children should always wear inner gloves or handwraps. These absorb sweat and help the gloves smell less quickly. Also, especially handwraps provide extra support to the hands. We recommend handwraps from 8-9 years old.

Is there a difference between kickboxing gloves and boxing gloves?
No.
Actually, there is no difference.
There are brands that are more focused on boxing or brands that are more focused on kickboxing and thai boxing.
There are some small differences, but in practice, you can use boxing gloves for kickboxing and kickboxing gloves for boxing.
Wearing inner gloves is recommended for small children who sweat a lot. The sweat then goes into the inner gloves, which you can then put in the wash. This keeps the gloves fresher for longer.
For older children, we recommend wearing handwraps. These provide more support and protection. It is up to the trainer to decide how and what.
Can my child use boxing gloves for multiple martial arts?
Yes.
The child can definitely use the boxing gloves for multiple sports. Sports like kickboxing naturally use boxing gloves, but a completely different self-defense sport like Krav Maga also uses boxing gloves. This of course does not apply to all martial arts, so we also recommend checking with the gym where you want to send the child.

From what age can my child start boxing or kickboxing?
There is no specific age requirement here. The minimum age will be around 4 years old, but most gyms set the age at 7 or 8 years old. Be sure to check with the gym where you want to take the child.
Children usually trainwith boxing gloves of 6 oz, 8 oz, or 10 oz. Very occasionally, for very small children, there are even 2 oz or 4 oz gloves.

Choose by age:
up to 3-4 years - 2 oz
up to 4-5 years - 4 oz
up to 6-8 years - 6 oz
up to 9-11 years - 8 oz
from 12 years - 10 oz
Choose by body weight
up to 35 kg - 6 oz
35 – 45 kg - 8 oz
45 – 55 kg - 10 oz

The rule of thumb is: "the heavier the child in question, the heavier the glove to be used is desired". A heavier boxing glove generally has more padding and is therefore safer for the hands and the training partner. Trainers generally also prefer that you have heavier boxing gloves rather than lighter ones.
