Specific features

  • + Hook-and-loop closure

The hook-and-loop closure is the most commonly used closure in martial arts—and for good reason. It’s quick to put on, easy to adjust, and provides a secure, reliable fit without help from someone else.

The closure keeps the wrist stable during training and sparren, and remains just as effective after many sessions as it was on day one. Suitable for beginners and advanced athletes who value convenience without compromising support.

  • + Thumb protector

An integrated thumb protector prevents the thumb from being forced into an unnatural position upon impact. This is one of the most common injuries in boxing—among both beginners and advanced athletes.

The protector is built into the glove’s construction and limits the thumb’s range of motion without affecting feel or grip. Essential for anyone who regularly trains on the heavy bag or with pads.

Made from durable synthetic leather with a filling of multiple layers of foam that optimally protect your child's knuckles and hands during training and sparren. Available from 2 oz to 10 oz - the right size for every child, from toddler to teenager.

Frequently Asked Questions — Kids boxing gloves XPRT Enforcer V4 Phantom

What size boxing gloves does my child need?

Children usually train with boxing gloves of 6 oz, 8 oz, or 10 oz. Very occasionally, for really small children, there are even 2 oz or 4 oz gloves.

The following are general guidelines. For each brand and model

Choosing by age:

  • up to 3–4 years old – 2 oz
  • up to 4–5 years old – 4 oz
  • up to 6–8 years old – 6 oz
  • up to 9–11 years old – 8 oz
  • from 12 years old – 10 oz

Choosing by body weight

  • up to 35 kg – 6 oz
  • 35–45 kg – 8 oz
  • 45–55 kg – 10 oz

We have also created unique size charts for this purpose. Here, you can check both age and weight. If in doubt, we recommend considering weight rather than age.

The rule of thumb is: “the heavier the child in question, the heavier the glove should be”. A heavier boxing glove generally has more padding and is therefore safer for both the hands and the training partner. Trainers also generally prefer you to use heavier boxing gloves rather than lighter ones.

At what age can my child start boxing or kickboxing?

There is no specific age requirement. The youngest possible age is around 4, but most gyms set the minimum age at 7 or 8. Please check with the gym you would like to take the child to.

Are boxing gloves safe for children to use?

Yes.

Boxing gloves that fit well are certainly safe for children. Of course, several important factors matter: the length and width of the hand compartment and the wrist closure. If they fit securely without being too tight, they are safe to use.

Do not buy kids boxing gloves that are too large either, because excessive looseness causes them to shift, which is not good.

Can my child use boxing gloves for multiple martial arts?

Yes.

The child can certainly use the boxing gloves for multiple sports. Sports such as kickboxing naturally use boxing gloves, but a completely different self-defense sport such as Krav Maga also uses also boxing gloves.

This of course does not apply to all martial arts, so we recommend checking with the gym where you plan to send the child.

What is the background of the XPRT brand?

The story of XPRT Fight Gear begins in 2005. An enthusiastic martial artist and entrepreneur has been dreaming for years of a shop full of the finest fighting gear, available and accessible to everyone.

Through personal experiences in the form of training camps, seminars, competitions, and research, he gained a clear vision of how to offer martial arts, combat sports, and martial arts equipment to a broader audience in the new millennium.

With extensive experience in Thai boxing, boxing, karate, and especially ITF Taekwon-do, Fight2Win takes its first steps toward a complete product range. Initially, this consisted exclusively of ITF Taekwon-do uniforms and safety equipment under the Taekwon-do.nl brand and website.

Then came the slogan: Fight2WinAnd eventually, with the help of other martial artists and graphic designers, a logo and name emerged for a groundbreaking and affordable martial arts brand: XPRT Fight Gear!
