Boxing gloves for children aged 4-5 years
Of course, we have boxing gloves for children aged 4-5. Children this age love kickboxing and boxing, and you can find the right equipment here. Our online shop offers a wide selection of boxing gloves for children aged 4 and 5.
What size boxing gloves do I need for a 4 or 5 year old?
Children aged 4 and 5 should really start training with light boxing gloves of 4 oz or 6 oz .
Depending on weight and build, we generally recommend 6 oz . For girls aged 4 and 5, we recommend 4 oz.
You definitely shouldn't choose an 8 oz., as that's far too large and also far too heavy. You're also welcome to visit our showroom to try on the different sizes with your son or daughter.
Should I buy faux leather or leather boxing gloves?
For children aged 4 and 5, faux leather boxing gloves are ideal. Children often train once or twice a week and don't punch hard yet.
It's a shame to pay more for a more expensive leather boxing glove. Besides, we have a huge range of colors and fun prints in that category.
We have a huge variety of different colours of PU children's boxing gloves in stock in 4 oz, 6 oz and 8 oz.

Boxing gloves for children aged 6-7 years
Boxing gloves are essential for kickboxing for children aged 6-7. If your son or daughter is taking a trial lesson, they can always borrow boxing gloves from the club.
After training, don't forget to wash your hands thoroughly, because 9 times out of 10 those rental gloves stink horribly.
So just buy boxing gloves yourself if your child likes them and wants to continue taking lessons.
What size boxing gloves do I need for a 7-year-old?
We recommend 6 oz boxing gloves for children aged 6 and 7. This is a standard weight for children of average build.
However, no child is the same in terms of build, so if your son or daughter is bigger and heavier than other children, it is advisable to buy 8 oz .

Boxing gloves for children aged 8-9 years
Which boxing gloves are right for children aged 8-9? That's a question we often hear in our store.
There's no simple answer because every child is different, but nine times out of ten we recommend 8 oz. This size is perfect for children in this age group.
What size for a 9 year old?
Children aged 8 and 9 years old can best practice kickboxing and boxing with 8 oz boxing gloves.
These boxing gloves are over 50 grams heavier than the 6 oz gloves and also slightly larger. This improves the proportion of the glove to the body.
Children aren't all the same. Some are bigger and heavier, others are smaller and lighter. We advise children who are really small, but still 8 or 9 years old, to train with 6 oz.
For children aged 8 and 9, who are larger and heavier than their peers, it's better to use 10 oz. Note that this is also the competition weight for adults, so it will be considerably larger and heavier.
Should I buy leather or faux leather boxing gloves?
The difference between leather and synthetic leather isn't easily discernible with the naked eye. Synthetic leather boxing gloves feel a bit plasticky, but they're perfect for kids who are just starting kickboxing and aren't sure if they want to stick with it.
The advantage is that faux leather boxing gloves are cheaper than leather ones. The biggest disadvantage, however, is that faux leather gloves tend to smell faster because they don't ventilate as well. In terms of padding and protection, there's little difference between them.
We therefore recommend purchasing synthetic leather boxing gloves (PU, Skintex) for young children aged 5 to 8. At this age, they don't sweat as much, and there's a risk of them dropping out.
A leather boxing glove is always better than a faux leather one. The latter tends to tear more easily at the seams.
But children don't hit that hard yet, and if they train once a week, a faux leather glove is fine. If children train twice a week, we do recommend a leather glove.
Use of handwraps or under gloves
We recommend having your daughter or son wear under gloves under their boxing gloves. These absorb sweat, keeping the gloves smelling fresh.
The gloves will also fit more securely, which is very comfortable during training. We recommend buying the under gloves in size XXS or XS for a very reasonable price.
We recommend older children wear handwraps. These provide more support and protection. It's up to the trainer to determine how and what to wear.
In some of our children's kickboxing sets we include a few short handwraps (if this is included in the set).
Is there a thumb guard?
All children's boxing gloves we sell come with a thumb guard. This means the thumb is secured to the rest of the glove. This prevents the thumb from folding over, preventing nasty injuries.
Is the color of the kids boxing gloves important?
The color of boxing gloves is very important to many children. In our store, we see many children who prioritize color over fit.
This isn't the correct order of importance, of course, and that's why we always try to give children sound advice. Fortunately, we have most gloves in all colors and sizes, so this shouldn't be a problem.
Black boxing gloves are always easier to pair with other colors of kickboxing shorts and shin guards than, for example, pink. Keep this in mind when purchasing a pair of boxing gloves.
Do boxing gloves need maintenance?
The most important thing with boxing gloves is proper ventilation. Sweat needs to evaporate from the gloves. If this doesn't happen, the gloves will stink terribly.
That's why you should always take your boxing gloves out of their gym bag after training and put them somewhere they can dry. A good place is the garage or on the doormat. You can also lightly lubricate your boxing gloves twice a year with some Vaseline. You should only do this if you have leather boxing gloves.
