Twins Special gloves FBGVL53 Dia de Muertos Boxing gloves

On November 1 and 2, Mexico celebrates Día de los Muertos—the Day of the Dead. Not a day of mourning, but a colorful celebration in which the living welcome the spirits of their ancestors. Skulls decorated with flowers, altars filled with marigolds, and a celebration of life that continues beyond death. Twins Special has translated this iconic Mexican festival into one of the most striking limited editions in its collection.

The Sugar Skull—beauty in death

The calavera—the decorated skull—is the central symbol of Día de los Muertos. Not as a sign of fear, but as a celebration of life. Colorful, detailed, and full of symbolism. The FBGVL53 proudly bears this symbol: a glove just as striking as the festival that inspired it. Handmade in Thailand, inspired by Mexico.

Limited edition—handcrafted quality

The FBGVL53 is produced in a very limited edition. Each pair is handmade from 100% cowhide leather, double-stitched, and finished with the Dia de Muertos design, found on no other glove in the world. The polyurethane foam padding with an antibacterial surface provides maximum protection during sparring and pad training.

Ventilation for long training sessions

The perforated ventilation holes in the palm provide optimal airflow during intense training sessions. Pairs perfectly with black, white, or gray shin guards and kickboxing shorts. Available in 12, 14, and 16 oz—suitable for women and men. Once they're gone, they're gone.

The perforated ventilation holes in the palm of the BGVL3 ensure optimal airflow during training. The hand stays ventilated and fresh, even during long and intensive sessions.

    Tips for Twins boxing gloves

It is recommended to always use handwraps with your Twins boxing gloves. In addition to supporting your hands, these also absorb a lot of sweat.

A disinfectant spray and a deodorizer- to help your gloves dry faster - are also highly recommended to keep your boxing gloves nice and fresh.

Twins Special boxing gloves are made of 100% leather and therefore require regular care with leather conditioner and/or leather grease.

How can I best maintain my Twins Special boxing gloves?

Boxing gloves have a limited lifespan. After all, they are used for hitting, and boxing gloves often endure a lot of wear and tear.

Of course, you can influence their lifespan yourself by handling them carefully and boxing gloves properly care for them. Don't throw them in a corner; take them out of your sports bag and let them dry properly (not in direct sunlight).

What is the background story of Twins Special?

Twins Special is a renowned Thai brand specializing in high-quality Muay Thai, kickboxing, and boxing equipment, particularly (kick)boxing gloves, pads, and thai boxing shorts.

The company Twins Special was founded in Thailand in 1992 by two brothers.

What type of padding do Twins boxing gloves have?

    All Twins BGVL3/BGN models

    • Thick, multi-layered foam padding for optimal protection.

Twins gloves have more padding on the back and side of the hand than a regular boxing glove. They are designed for Thai boxing, but are also suitable for kickboxing and boxing.

This padding is necessary for blocking kicks and backfist strikes. A Twins glove offers slightly less knuckle protection than a “classic” boxing glove of comparable weight. This is because the weight is distributed across other parts of the glove.

How do the Twins boxing gloves (BGVL3/4/8 and BGN) fit?

Twins boxing gloves generally have a roomy fit and are suitable for both wide and regular hands. Although Twins boxing gloves have a fairly wide fit, they are also suitable for people with "regular" hands. There is enough room to wrap your handwraps properly.

They are known for their somewhat

larger padding size. Our experience is that Twins gloves feel tight at first (which is normal), but become considerably roomier (stretch out) with use.

Onze ervaring is dat in het begin Twins strak aanvoelen (wat normaal is), maar dat ze behoorlijk ruimer worden (uitlopen) met gebruik.

What size Twins Special BGVL boxing gloves do I need?

Boxing gloves are not sized according to “regular” sizes, but by weight, expressed in ounces (oz).

Every brand and model of boxing glove on our website has a unique size chart (next to the size selection and at the bottom of the content). Here, we provide the best possible guideline on what we think is the best choice for you. for that specific model.

The rule of thumb is: “the heavier the person in question, the heavier the glove they should use”. A heavier boxing glove generally has more padding and is therefore safer for both the hands and the training partner. Trainers generally also prefer you to have heavier boxing gloves rather than lighter ones.

In short, youths train with 6 oz, 8 oz, or 10 oz boxing gloves. Women usually choose 12 oz or 14 oz and men often do best choosing 14 oz or 16 oz. doen er vaak het beste aan te kiezen voor een 14 oz of 16 oz.
