Twins gloves have more padding on the back and side of the hand than a regular boxing glove. They are designed for Thai boxing, but are also suitable for kickboxing and boxing.

That padding is necessary for blocking kicks and backfist strikes. A Twins glove offers slightly less knuckle protection than a "classic" boxing glove of comparable weight. This is because the weight is distributed across other parts of the glove.

Twins boxing gloves generally have a roomy fit and are suitable for both wide and regular hands. Although Twins boxing gloves have a fairly wide fit, they are also suitable for people with "regular" hands. There is enough room to wrap your handwraps properly.

The rule of thumb is: “the heavier the person, the heavier the glove they should use”. In general, a heavier boxing glove has more padding and is therefore safer for both your hands and your training partner. Trainers also generally prefer you to use heavier boxing gloves rather than lighter ones.

In short, youth train with 6 oz, 8 oz, or 10 oz boxing gloves. Women usually choose 12 oz or 14 oz, while men are often best off choosing 14 oz or 16 oz.
