Boxing gloves do not come in “standard” sizes; their weight is expressed in ounces (oz).

For every boxing glove brand and model on our website, there is a unique size chart (by the size selection and at the bottom under the details). This provides the best guideline we can give for what we think is the best choice for you for that specific model.

The rule of thumb is: “the heavier the person, the heavier the glove they should use”. In general, a heavier boxing glove has more padding and is therefore safer for both your hands and your training partner. Trainers also generally prefer you to use heavier boxing gloves rather than lighter ones.

In short, youth train with 6 oz, 8 oz, or 10 oz boxing gloves. Women usually choose 12 oz or 14 oz, while men are often best off choosing 14 oz or 16 oz.
