Most boxing handwraps are a polyester-cotton blend, but for enthusiasts, we also have 100% cotton old-school handwraps.

Reinforcement for fist and knuckles

Handwraps are used in boxing and kickboxing under the boxing gloves. A handwrap ensures you get a compact fist and provides extra protection for your knuckles and fingers. It also absorbs the sweat that comes from your hands. This keeps your boxing gloves in good condition and smelling fresh.

The standard handwraps are wrapped around the hand, and then the boxing gloves are put on over them. We sell them in 250 cm (100 inch) and extra long 450 cm (180 inch). For women and girls, we have special pink or other cheerful colors. Alternatives are inner gloves or gelwraps. These have a gel filling on top so the knuckles get extra protection.

Many benefits of wearing handwraps

We always recommend people to use handwraps. The main advantage is that your fist becomes compact. This allows you to punch harder and reduces the chance of annoying injuries. Another big advantage is that the handwraps absorb sweat. This prevents sweat from getting into your boxing gloves. So they also smell less quickly! And that is very pleasant.

Should I choose 250 cm or 450 cm?

The 250 cm size is ideal for children and adult women with narrow hands. That length is really enough for them. Adult men should definitely use the 450 cm. Only then can you optimally protect your hands. And if you quickly get wrist pain, you should also use 450 cm. Some people also train with a double handwrap.

What is the correct way to put them on?

There are many ways to put on a handwrap. Everyone has their own way. The most important thing is to wrap the striking surface extra well. You also need to stabilize the wrist. Additionally, you can choose to include your thumb. This video shows how to put on 250 cm. And in this video a super easy way to put on 450 cm is shown.

What is polycotton?

Polycotton is a fabric made from a blend of cotton and polyester fibers. The fiber ratio can vary, but often 80% polyester and 20% cotton are used in handwraps. In our karate and taekwon-do uniforms, the ratio is usually 65% polyester and 35% cotton.

Polycotton combines the advantages of both materials: the breathability of cotton and the durability and quick-drying properties of polyester.

Why is polycotton used?

  • More durable: polyester makes the fabric stronger and more resistant to wear than pure cotton. 
  • Wrinkle-resistant: polycotton is much less prone to wrinkling than 100% cotton. This is especially convenient for martial arts uniforms as it requires less ironing.
  • Quick-drying: polyester fibers dry faster than cotton, which is useful for sportswear and sports equipment. 
  • Economical: polycotton is cheaper than 100% cotton. 
  • Versatile: polycotton is suitable for various applications, such as clothing and handwraps.
  • More elastic: handwraps are more comfortable with a bit of stretch. 100% cotton has no stretch at all.

How can I best wash boxing handwraps?

The best way to wash handwraps is by placing them in a laundry bag or bra net and washing them in the washing machine at 30°C or lower. Hand washing is actually even better.

It is important to fasten the Velcro before washing to prevent it from sticking to other clothes or itself. After washing, let the handwraps air dry naturally. Put them not in the dryer, as they can shrink and wrinkle unnecessarily.

  • Partially roll up the handwraps and place them in a laundry bag or bra net. 
  • Wash the handwraps in the washing machine at a maximum of 30°C or hand wash them.
  • Let the handwraps air dry, preferably hung out for a long time.
  • Do not put the handwraps in the dryer. 

Extra tips:

  • Wash the handwraps regularly (after every training) to keep them hygienically clean and fresh.
  • You can optionally use a mild detergent, but rinse the handwraps well to avoid soap residue.
  • Let the handwraps dry completely after washing before using them again. 
Why do you use handwraps?

In boxing and kickboxing , training on the punching bag or kicking and punching shields, the hands and wrists endure a lot.Inner gloves and handwraps provide extra protection for the hands, knuckles, and wrists.

How do I put on handwraps?

There are many different ways and variations to wrap short and long handwraps. As you use them more often, you will develop your own preference, and one person may wrap more around the wrists, while another may wrap more around the knuckles of the fists.

There are two types of Hayabusa handwraps: Deluxe and Perfect Stretch.

Perfect Stretch:

  • 50% nylon, 50% cotton blend for the ideal amount of stretch and a comfortable level of protection

Deluxe:

  • 100% nylon yarn: a luxurious material that feels smooth and comfortable and offers exceptional durability
What material are Winning handwraps made of?

There are three types of Winning handwraps: VL-B Extension, VL-C Non-Extension, and VL-H Amateur Fight.

VL-B Extension:

  • 100% rayon: this is an artificially made fiber based on the cell walls of plants (cellulose). These are the fibers from the eucalyptus tree, bamboo, and wood that make the fine threads of the yarn. The yarn resembles cotton but is stronger, more flexible, and softer. As a result, the fabric feels almost like silk.

VL-C Non-Extension:

  • 100% cotton: for a sturdy, thick handwrap without stretch: this is mainly for advanced boxers, competitive fighters, and kickboxers

VL-H Amateur Fight:

  • 100% elastic cotton: these handwraps are made of natural cotton but with a very strong stretch.

There are two types of Rival handwraps: Guerrero and Mexican Stretch.

Mexican Stretch:

  • 50% nylon, 50% cotton blend for the perfect amount of stretch and extra thin wrapping with the same amount of protection

Guerrero:

  • 70% polyviscose, 30% nylon blend for the perfect amount of stretch and standard thickness
