Men generally choose heavier weights than women, depending on body weight and intended use:

Guideline based on body weight:

• up to 65 kg - 12 oz (training) or 14 oz (sparren)
• 65–80 kg - 14 oz (training and sparren) – the most commonly chosen size
• 80–95 kg - 16 oz – the standard weight for men
• over 95 kg - 16 oz or 18 oz

Use:

• Bag work and pads - 12 oz or 14 oz is sufficient
• Sparren - always at least 14 oz, preferably 16 oz for your partner’s safety
• Heavy sparring / professional - 16 oz or 18 oz

Rule of thumb: almost all men train with 14 oz or 16 oz. A smaller, lighter person may choose 12 oz.

Men’s boxing gloves are used in virtually all martial arts:

Boxing - all models are suitable. For serious sparring, the Rival RS11V, Twins BGVL3, Cleto Reyes and Winning the most commonly used choices at advanced and professional level.

Kickboxing and thai boxing - the same gloves are used. The XPRT Pro V3, Twins BGVL3 and Rival RS11V are popular in kickboxing and thai boxing gyms. For clinch work, the Twins models with their more flexible construction are preferred.

Cardio boksen and personal training - a lighter glove (12–14 oz) is sufficient. The XPRT Enforcer V4, King Pro Boxing Revo and Rival RS60V are good choices.

Krav Maga - Velcro gloves are the standard. The XPRT Pro V3 and Enforcer V4 are widely used.

Professional boxing - Winning, Cleto Reyes (lace-up) and Rival RFX Guerrero (lace-up) are the standard at professional level.

Men's boxing gloves are subjected to heavy use—proper care prevents odors, bacterial growth, and premature wear during intensive use.

After every training session:

• Let the gloves air-dry in a ventilated place—never put them directly into a bag
• Use an antibacterial spray (Sukkiri or FreshKO) to inhibit bacterial growth
• Use an deodorizer to help the gloves dry faster from the inside

Synthetic leather (Enforcer V4, Conquest V9, King Pro Boxing, Rival RS60V):

• Wipe with a damp cloth; do not submerge

Microfiber (Rival RS11V, RS100):

• Wipe with a damp cloth; no leather grease needed

VYLAR®-2 (Hayabusa T3):

• Wipe with a damp cloth; do not use leather grease on VYLAR®-2

100% leather (XPRT Pro V3, Top Gloves, Icon MX, Twins, Cleto Reyes, Hayabusa T3 LX, Winning, Di Nardo, Rival RFX):

• Wipe with a damp cloth after use
• Treat periodically with leather grease to keep the leather supple during intensive use
• Do not dry in direct sunlight

Always: use handwraps or inner gloves - this protects the inside of the glove and keeps it more hygienic.
