Chemical explanation
Bamboo charcoal can absorb moisture, unpleasant odors and various harmful gases in the air. This is because the empty structure of bamboo undergoes subtle changes during the carbonization process.
When the water in the bamboo evaporates, the cell openings shift and the sediment in the bamboo capillary tubes is also reduced.
Many impurities in the original bamboo are replaced because they are no longer filled with water and inclusions, becoming more spacious and denser. As a result, the empty space in bamboo charcoal increases, while the multi-pored structure of bamboo is preserved.
This honeycomb-like structure gives bamboo charcoal exceptional absorption power.
