Chemical explanation
Bamboo charcoal can absorb moisture, unusual odors and various harmful gases in the air. This is because the hollow structure of bamboo undergoes subtle changes during the carbonization process.
When the water in the bamboo evaporates, the cell openings shift and the sediment in the bamboo capillary tubes is also reduced.
Many impurities in the original bamboo are replaced because they are no longer filled with water and inclusions, becoming more spacious and denser. As a result, the hollow area of the bamboo carbon is increased, while the multi-pored structure of the bamboo is retained.
This honeycomb-like structure gives bamboo charcoal exceptional absorptive power.
