Punching mitts Hayabusa PTS3 - front view

The pear shape was chosen deliberately - it helps prevent the wrist from being accidentally hit or injured by unwanted rotation when a strike misses. Available in multiple colors. Supplied as a pair.

Latex foam and reinforced back - sturdy protection

The padding made from sturdy latex foam optimally absorbs the impact of punches. The reinforced back prevents the pad from breaking during intensive use and helps it retain its shape - even after many training sessions. The hook-and-loop wrist strap is easy to tighten for a secure, stable fit.

Specific features

  • + Pre-curved ergonomic design

The pre-curved ergonomic design follows the natural curve of the hand, allowing the hand pad to sit comfortably in the palm and reducing strain on the wrist when catching punches.

This provides a more stable grip and less fatigue during long training sessions.

  • + Latex foam padding with reinforced backing

The padding made of firm latex foam effectively absorbs impacts and provides optimal hand protection. The reinforced back prevents the pad from bending or breaking during hard combinations, preserving its shape.

  • + Mesh material – non-absorbent and temperature-regulating

The non-absorbent mesh material does not absorb sweat – the pads stay fresh, clean, and odor-free. The temperature-regulating ventilation keeps your hands cool during intense training sessions.

  • + Lightweight

A lightweight construction means less fatigue during training—without compromising protection or durability. Less weight on your hands or head allows for faster movements, less muscle fatigue, and better technique during longer sessions.

Especially for boxers and kickboxers working on speed and endurance, weight is a factor that matters. Lightweight equipment lets you train harder and longer without the gear slowing you down.

Frequently Asked Questions — Punching mitts Hayabusa PTS3

What is the background of the Hayabusa brand?

Hayabusa (pronounced Ha-Ja-Boe-Sa) is the Japanese word for peregrine falcon, the fastest animal on Earth (a bird of prey recorded at over 500 km/h in a dive). The company was founded in 2006 by Ken & Craig Clement, David Zikakis and Luke Harris and has literally taken flight ever since.

Hayabusa is headquartered in Ontario (Canada) and has its global distribution centre in the heart of Las Vegas (United States). Not entirely coincidentally, this is also where the biggest boxing matches and UFC events take place. Hayabusa also has two exclusive contracts with independent sports centres in Canada, where all Hayabusa products are extensively tested.

Hayabusa aims to offer the best materials in terms of comfort, fit, anatomy and, more importantly, performance and safety! A martial artist is constantly improving and developing themselves. This is a Japanese philosophy that is also applied in business and at Hayabusa: Kaizen. This is the concept of “continuous improvement.

What can I use punching mitts for?

Punching mitts are primarily used to practice fast punches, combinations, and defensive techniques.

They are designed to help practitioners develop speed, precision, reflexes, fitness, and coordination. Punching mitts are also portable and easy to use, making them ideal for one-on-one training sessions.

Use punching mitts to:

  • Improve precision and technique
  • Improve speed and reflexes
  • Improve power and endurance
  • Improve guard and defense
  • Simulate realistic combat situations safely
  • Reduce injuries
What is the difference between punching mitts, focus pads, Thai pads and kicking shields?

Punching mitts, also known as focus pads called compact pads that are held by a trainer during a training session. The terms punching mitts and focus pads are used interchangeably. However, in our view, there are subtle differences between them, which is why our website distinguishes between them. Punching mitts are primarily intended for punches and punching techniques.

Thai pads, also known as kickpads or pao, are larger pads held by a trainer for practising both punches and kicks.

Punching shields are usually large, round cushions that the trainer or partner holds in front of the body. They are particularly suitable for various punching techniques, including hooks, liver shots and uppercuts.

Kicking shields are the really large cushions used for punches and kicks. They are ideal for beginners and children who, frankly, are not yet very accurate. They are also highly suitable for advanced practitioners, as these shields allow them to practise their technique with full force .

What are the pros and cons of light or heavy punching mitts?

The weight of punching mitts is not necessarily an indication of their build quality. Some very lightweight mitts, such as Rival Airpads, are extremely durable.

Lightweight punching mitts are especially comfortable for trainers during prolonged use, but usually a little weight is desirable as well, and heavier mitts tend to be sturdier.

However, this is not necessarily the case, and it varies by brand and price range. We have weighed all the punching mitts in our range and added this information to a size chart for the relevant product! bij het betreffende product!
