Sometimes you’re unable to go to the gym, but you still want to burn off some energy and stay in shape. Or perhaps you simply want to do some extra training on the various aspects involved in almost every martial art: fitness, speed, sharpness, technique, and strength.
You can simply train at home or outdoors in the woods. The best way to train at home with a family member or training partner is pad training!
All you need is a pair of punching mitts and a pair of boxing gloves. That way, you can train at home with your father, mother, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, brother, or sister!
The benefits of pad training are:
- great fitness training
- ideal for clearing your head
- small investment
- takes up little space
Improving your fitness
There are countless ways to work on your fitness. After a good pad training session, you’ll be completely exhausted.
By building up slowly and occasionally adding fast combinations, you create an interval workout. And this is really great for your fitness. By performing combinations quickly, with short rest periods, you build up excellent fitness.
You also use many muscle groups. Among others, your arms, shoulders, back, and abdominal muscles are engaged.
Ideal for clearing your head
Pad training is the best workout for letting out some aggression. Of course, you’d rather go for a nice walk outside, sit on a terrace, and do other fun things. Unfortunately, you’re not allowed to. So grab the pads and a pair of boxing gloves and let out all that pent-up anger. It really works, trust me ;)
Small investment
For pad training, you only need a pair of pads and a pair of gloves. If you go for the cheapest models, you can be all set for just €100!
If you want to take it a little more seriously, with proper boxing gloves and better pads, you’ll spend more than €100. For a great option, take a look at the XPRT Pad Training Set. More on which pads we recommend later.
Takes up little space
Unlike large fitness equipment, a pair of pads and a pair of boxing gloves take up very little space.
They’re easy to store in a cupboard, and once the crisis is over, you can simply take the pads with you in the car for a workout on the beach or in the woods.
Which punching mitts, arm pads, or punching shields should I choose?
We have the right pads for every budget! We distinguish between home use and gym use. At the gym, pads are used intensively every day. If you train at home, you may use the pads a few times a week.
The XPRT Punching Mitts V4 Strikeforce are the ideal choice for people who want to train at home without spending too much. These pads are made of Skintex, a high-quality synthetic leather.
More professional versions of these proven pads have recently become available: the XPRT Pro Focus Pads FP. They can be tightened more securely with a hook-and-loop closure and feature a comfortable mesh finish for improved ventilation.
If you’re willing to spend a little more, the King Revo pads are highly recommended. They’re slightly longer, and thanks to their curve, you as the trainer can absorb punches more effectively.
They don’t have a closure, so you can quickly put the pads on and take them off. If you’re looking for pads with an additional closure, take a look at the Booster Extreme pads. These are really nice and thick and provide maximum protection!
If you’re a personal trainer or simply place great value on high-quality equipment, you’ll end up with Hayabusa and Twins. The Hayabusa punching mitts PTS3 feel incredibly comfortable in the hand, are super light, and are great to train with.
The Twins Punching Mitts... well... simply the best of the best. The price reflects that too. This is truly a great and durable investment.
