Compression shorts with cup (Shock Doctor Core Bioflex, Shock Doctor Ultrapro 337): tight compression shorts combined with groin protection—ideal for kickboxing, MMA and Krav Maga, where there is a lot of legwork.

Kidney and groin protector / No-Foul Protector (Rival RNFL series, Cleto Reyes Kidney and Foul, Winning CPS-500): a full professional protector that also protects the kidneys —mandatory for high-level boxing. For

women : the XPRT Basic Women's and Shock Doctor G5 and SD366 are specifically shaped for female anatomy.: de XPRT Basic Dames en Shock Doctor G5 en SD366 zijn specifiek gevormd voor de vrouwelijke anatomie.

From beginner to professional – the right groinguard for every level

Beginner / recreationalists: XPRT Basic for men (White or Black, XXS-XL, Designed in NL) - the best-selling cup in our range. Shock Doctor Bio Flex SD213 (S-XXL, 218 g) - a solid basic model for all martial arts.

Advanced: Shock Doctor Ultra SD329 (carbon fiber, Bio-Shape Design, S-XXL, F2W choice) - the most versatile cup for serious athletes.

Professional boxing: Rival RNFL Pro (S-XL, F2W choice), Rival RNFL10 (S-XL), Rival RNFL10-360 D3O (Intelli-Shock D3O technology), Rival RNFL100 Professional (microfiber, Feather Lite, 377 g), Rival No-Foul Guerrero (leather, laces), Cleto Reyes Kidney and Foul (leather, handmade in Mexico) or Winning CPS-500 (Made in Japan, 320 g).

Groinguard size guide – how to choose the right size

Groinguards are measured based on waist circumference or pants size. Most models are available in S to XL or XXL.

XPRT Basic men: available from XXS (children) to XL—the only model in our range with XXS for the youngest children.

Shock Doctor models (SD213, SD329, Ultrapro 337, Core Bioflex): S to XXL—a wide size range for all body types.

Rival kidney and groin guards (RNFL Pro, RNFL10, RNFL100): S to XL. The RNFL10-360 D3O is available in M and L.

Winning CPS-500 and Rival No-Foul Guerrero: M and L—specifically for adult professional boxers.

Women: XPRT Basic Women (XS-L), Shock Doctor G5 (Junior/Adult), Shock Doctor SD366 (S-XL).

Steel, carbon fiber, leather, or synthetic material – the material determines comfort and protection

Plastic (XPRT Basic, Booster G8): lightweight, affordable, and suitable for all martial arts - the standard for recreationalists and advanced athletes.

Carbon fiber (Shock Doctor SD329, G5, Ultrapro 337): stronger than plastic at the same weight - Shock Doctor's choice for their premium models.

Steel (Twins Steel G3, Booster Steel BG3): maximum hardness - specifically for kickboxing and thai boxing, where hard kicks to the groin occur. Steel is somewhat outdated, since carbon fiber is stronger, lighter, and more practical.

Foam and leather (Rival RNFL series, Cleto Reyes, Winning CPS-500): professional kidney and groin protectors for boxing - combining shock absorption with a sturdy outer layer.

Microfiber Feather Lite (Rival RNFL100 Professional, 377 g): the lightest professional model in our range.

Boxing, kickboxing, MMA, taekwondo, and Krav Maga—groin protection for every sport

The XPRT Basic men's and Shock Doctor SD329 are suitable for virtually all martial arts: boxing, kickboxing, thai boxing, MMA, budo, taekwondo, and Krav Maga.

For high-level boxing: the Rival RNFL series, Cleto Reyes Kidney and Foul, and Winning CPS-500 are specifically designed for classic boxing and required in professional competitions.

For MMA and Krav Maga: Shock Doctor Core Bioflex and Shock Doctor Ultrapro 337 compression shorts are the most practical choices.

Frequently asked questions — Groin protectors & Groinguards

Why are groinguards in boxing so different from regular cups?

A "regular" cup only protects the groin. A no-foul protector in boxing protects the kidneys, liver, and groin.

In boxing, the chance of taking punches to the liver or kidneys is much greater than in kickboxing. Extra protection is therefore needed to minimize the risk of injuries and damage.

Is a groinguard mandatory?

Yes, usually.

A groinguard is often mandatory or recommended. For boxing, kickboxing, and karate training, for example, it is recommended. In krav maga and self-defense systems, it is mandatory. The area protected by the groinguard is, of course, highly vulnerable to injury.

During exams and competitions, a groinguard is always mandatory for both men and women.

Can you wash groinguards and cups?

Yes and no.

This depends on the brand and model. You can almost never wash the cup (the hard part), nor do you need to. Most regular groinguards are built into a kind of sports brief (jockstrap). You can remove the cup and wash the brief.

The larger kidney and groinguards (No-Foul) designed for boxing obviously cannot be washed in a washing machine either. This really shouldn’t be necessary. You can simply wipe them down and dry them to keep them fresh.

Naturally, you can’t wash the steel groinguards either. The metal is not designed to withstand this.

What size groinguard should I get?

When choosing the size of groinguards, the main consideration is waist circumference rather than the cup size itself. For each groinguard, we have included a unique size chart (in the size selector and below in the product information) for that specific brand and model.
