Top 9 handwraps for boxing and kickboxing (2025)

Top 9 handwraps for boxing and kickboxing (2025)

Handwraps are essential equipment in almost all stand-up martial arts and their variations. In sports such as boxing, kickboxing, thai boxing, and cardio boxing, almost everyone uses boxing wraps, also known as bandages or wraps.

Anyone who practices these combat and ring sports, whether purely recreationally or with a focus on competition, would be wise to have at least one, and preferably several, pairs of decent handwraps in their bag.

They are used during every training session and are therefore at least as important as a good pair of boxing gloves. Choosing a comfortable pair of handwraps is therefore very important, and in this best-buy guide, we are happy to help you along.

Why do you wear handwraps for boxing, cardio boxing, and kickboxing?

Handwraps are designed to protect the bones in your hands, your knuckles, and your wrists during training in all martial arts that involve punching. When applied correctly, they make your fist more compact and help your hands and knuckles absorb impacts more effectively.

Handwraps also provide essential support and alignment for the wrists, helping them maintain a better position and making them better able to absorb the impact of punches. They also give your hands more grip when forming a fist, and your boxing gloves will literally fit more "like a glove."

A nice additional benefit, or positive side effect, is that the handwraps also absorb a lot of sweat that would otherwise end up in your boxing gloves. You can easily wash the handwraps after every training session, which you should not do with your boxing gloves.

With good handwraps, you can train better and harder with much less risk of injury than without them.

Best-buy guide to handwraps

Most people (logically) look for handwraps for the most popular martial arts: boxing, thai boxing, and kickboxing. However, even in more fitness-oriented classes such as HIIT boxing and cardio boksen, almost everyone uses boxing wraps.

Criteria for scoring handwraps*

When assessing boxing wraps, we look at the most important properties of a handwrap: the quality of the fabric and finish, comfort, and price. We score the handwraps based on these criteria.

  1. Quality: The fabric used, the finish, and the strength of the hook-and-loop fastener.
  2. Comfort & ease of use: The presence of a thumb loop, the length of the hook-and-loop fastener, and how comfortable the handwraps are during everyday use.
  3. Price: In this best-buy guide, we have not divided the products into different price categories, which is why we include price as a scoring factor.

Fight2Win has a huge collection of different handwraps for boxing, kickboxing, and cardio boksen in its range. *From this range, we select the top 9 based on customer experiences and feedback, popularity, external review sites, and our own expertise.

1. Twins Cotton CH

Handwraps Twins Special Cotton 450 cm - Red

We have finally been able to add the Twins handwraps to our range, and we are very happy about it. All Twins equipment in Europe goes through the distributor who determines the selection. We have long requested that, besides boxing gloves, pads, and shin guards, smaller but equally important equipment such as handwraps and ankle guards also be included in the range.

The Twins handwraps are made in the homeland of Muay Thai: Thailand. And there, they know very well that good materials are essential when practicing all martial arts.

Quality Twins Cotton CH (Score: 9/10)

The Twins handwraps are exceptionally neatly finished, as far as one can say that about a handwrap. The 100% cotton handwrap also looks much more luxurious and pleasant than cheaper polyester varieties. They feature a beautiful Twins logo label and are manufactured with great durability, like all other products from Twins Special.

Comfort & ease of use Twins Cotton CH (Score: 9/10)

Twins handwraps are made from lightly stretchy cotton. Cotton is one of the most comfortable materials to wear. This applies to clothing, but certainly also to handwraps. The cotton used to make Twins handwraps is soft and comfortable.

The advantage of 100% cotton handwraps over polyester blends is that they are much more breathable. This is particularly pleasant with handwraps, because you will already sweat enough. The Twins handwraps are among the finest handwraps we have ever handled.

The Twins handwraps naturally have a comfortable thumb loop to start wrapping with, as well as neatly finished hook-and-loop fastening for closing. Our tip: let them air-dry naturally while fully unfolded, because cotton naturally creases and shrinks much more than polyester varieties.

Price Twins Cotton CH (Score: 6/10)

The Twins handwraps fall into the higher price category, hence the slightly lower score. However, the Cotton CH are more than worth the price, because you will benefit greatly from them during training.

As already mentioned in the introduction, we included price as a scoring factor because we compare the handwraps in a single category.

Features Twins Cotton CH:

Material 100% Cotton
Closure Thumb loop and hook-and-loop fastening
Sizes 450 cm
Colors Black, white, green, ...

Pros:

+ Luxurious and soft 100% Cotton

+ Breathable, lightweight, elastic fabric with a neat finish

2. Hayabusa Deluxe

Handwraps Hayabusa Deluxe Black

We have carried the regular Hayabusa Perfect Stretch handwraps with great pleasure for many years. They were and still are extremely popular with our customers because they are of such excellent quality. A few years ago, Hayabusa launched an extra-luxurious version of its handwraps under the fitting name: Deluxe.

The closure has a luxurious rubber label as a pull tab, further emphasizing the quality. The Hayabusa Deluxe handwraps are made from luxurious Nylon yarn. This material is also widely used in socks, carpets, and other garments because of its positive properties: it is the strongest type of synthetic fiber while also being resilient.

By using Nylon yarn, the Hayabusa handwraps retain their desired elasticity for a very long time and wrinkle minimally during washing. They also retain their color after frequent washing.

The advantage of nylon handwraps over cotton or cheaper polyester blends is that they crease much less and are less likely to lose their elastic properties. They are also moisture-resistant, so they will not develop mold or become soaked.

The Hayabusa Deluxe handwraps naturally feature a luxurious thumb loop to get you started when wrapping, and the hook-and-loop closure has a stylish rubber label.

3. Rival Mexican Stretch

Boxing wraps Rival Mexican Stretch white

The Rival Mexican Stretch handwraps are among our bestsellers when it comes to wraps. The top Canadian brand has managed to offer high-quality handwraps at a very competitive price.

In addition to the Mexican, Rival Boxing Gear has another model of handwraps in its range: the Guerrero's. The Mexican Stretch are available in multiple lengths in addition to the standard 180" (450 cm), allowing you to order the perfect length for you.

Rival Boxing Gear is a true boxing brand through and through, with all employees in key positions having a background in Western boxing. They also bring their products to market with genuine passion and this knowledge.

The Mexican Stretch handwraps are made from a blend of two fabrics with the best properties for handwraps: 50% nylon and 50% cotton. This gives them the strong, durable qualities of nylon yarn and the comfort and breathability of cotton.

The Rival handwraps initially look somewhat more fragile (more on this under comfort) and less chic than the Hayabusa or Twins, but don't be misled: these are truly top-quality handwraps.

By using partly nylon yarn, the Rival handwraps retain their desired elasticity for a long time and crease less during washing. They also retain their color after frequent washing.

Good stretch and softness; good material quality, not too thin or thick; 530cm allows you to wrap your wrist multiple times compared to most other handwraps - this is great for someone with large hands

Comfort & ease of use Rival Mexican Stretch (Score: 9/10)

Rival handwraps are made from a lightly elastic nylon-cotton blend. This makes them comfortable to wrap and comfortable to wear. However, the secret of these handwraps lies in their limited thickness.

Rival has sought a way to make thinner handwraps that offer the same protection as thicker and stiffer variants. The Mexican Stretch handwraps are the result. This means you have less trouble fitting very bulky fists into your boxing gloves, while enjoying at least the same level of protection.

Naturally, they have a thumb loop and a hook-and-loop closure to secure them. This looks somewhat simpler compared with some other brands, but function takes precedence over appearance here.

+ Extra thin for ease of use

+ Lightly elastic fabric with the breathable properties of cotton

We have sold quite a few sets of these to competitive boxers, serious recreationalists, and even professional boxers. Once they get used to them, they don't want anything else. The handwraps resemble the gauze that professional boxers use in competition, but in the form of a reusable handwrap.

Winning handwraps look very well-finished, but research does show that you need to handle these delicate handwraps carefully. Don't just throw them in the washing machine with the rest and hope for the best.

Because they are so incredibly thin, you can easily wrap them around your hands as if they were a layer of plaster, according to users on Reddit.

Winning handwraps are made from a material unique to handwraps: Rayon. Rayon is an artificially made fiber based on the cell walls of plants (cellulose). The fibers of eucalyptus trees, bamboo, and wood are used to make the fine threads of the yarn. The yarn closely resembles cotton, but is stronger, more flexible, and softer. As a result, the fabric feels almost like silk.

Winning handwraps have a luxurious thumb loop and a hook-and-loop closure to secure them. This looks simple, but is meticulously finished, just as we have come to expect from Winning.
