Some models use letter sizes, while others have an oz designation. A stated oz weight class is not the same as an independently measured product weight in grams. Also consider hand space and training goals.

Bag gloves are intended for punching bag and pad training. Sparring gloves are designed for training with a partner. Padding, hand space and closure vary by model; a bag glove does not necessarily offer less wrist support.

Do not use a bag glove for sparren just because its weight is similar to that of a sparring glove. Check the model's stated use. Separate bag and sparring gloves can help prevent your sparring pair from taking constant wear on the punching bag.

With a separate pair for bag and pad training, you don't have to keep using your sparring gloves for heavy bag work. That helps preserve the padding and fit of your sparring pair for training with a partner.

Choose a bag glove based on hand space, closure, feel on impact, and intended use. Bag gloves aren't necessarily lighter, smaller, or flatter than every boxing glove. Don't use them for sparren unless the exact model is designed for it.

Keep leather sports equipment clean and let it air-dry after training. Gently wipe off dirt with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Not all leather needs conditioning: use a suitable leather care product only when the type of leather and its finish allow it, and apply a thin layer. Do not use leather grease on microfiber or other synthetic coverings.
