Boxing gloves for kids aged 4-5
Of course, we have boxing gloves for a child aged 4-5. Children of this age find kickboxing and boxing super fun, and with us, you can find the right equipment. In our online shop, you have a wide choice of boxing gloves for kids aged 4 and 5.
What size boxing gloves do I need for a child aged 4 or 5?
Children aged 4 and 5 should really start training with light boxing gloves of 4 oz or 6 oz.
Depending a bit on weight and build, we usually recommend 6 oz. Only for girls aged 4 and 5 do we recommend 4 oz.
You definitely should not choose 8 oz because that is way too big and also way too heavy. Of course, you are also welcome in our showroom to try on the different sizes with your son or daughter.
Should I buy synthetic leather or leather boxing gloves?
For children aged 4 and 5, synthetic leather boxing gloves are fine. Children will often train 1 or 2 times a week and do not punch hard yet.
It is also a shame to pay more for a more expensive leather boxing glove. Moreover, we also have a very extensive range of colors and fun prints in that category.
We have a huge variety of different colors of PU kids boxing gloves in stock in 4 oz, 6 oz, and 8 oz.

Boxing gloves for kids aged 6-7
Boxing gloves for kids aged 6-7 are essential for kickboxing. If your son or daughter is going to do a trial lesson, they can always borrow boxing gloves at the club.
After training, don't forget to wash your hands well because 9 out of 10 times those loan gloves smell terrible.
Then just buy boxing gloves yourself if your child enjoys it and wants to continue with lessons.
What size boxing gloves do I need for a 7-year-old?
Children aged 6 and 7 are advised to use boxing gloves for kids of 6 oz. This is a standard weight for children with a normal build.
But no child is the same in build, so if your son or daughter is bigger and heavier than other children, it is advisable to buy 8 oz.

Boxing gloves for children aged 8-9 years
Which boxing gloves for children aged 8 - 9 years are the right ones? That is a question we often hear in our store.
There is no simple answer because every child is different, but 9 out of 10 times we advise 8 oz. This size fits perfectly for children in this age category.
What size for a 9-year-old?
Children aged 8 and 9 years can best do kickboxing and boxing with 8 oz boxing gloves.
These boxing gloves are over 50 grams heavier than the 6 oz gloves and also slightly larger. This makes the proportion of the body relative to the boxing glove better.
Children are not all the same. Some are bigger and heavier, others are smaller and lighter. We advise children who are really small in stature but are 8 or 9 years old to still train with 6 oz.
For children aged 8 and 9 who are bigger and heavier than their peers, it’s better to choose 10 oz. Note, this is also the competition weight for adults, so it is really much bigger and heavier.
Should I buy leather or synthetic leather boxing gloves?
The difference between leather and synthetic leather is not easy to see with the naked eye. A synthetic leather boxing glove feels a bit plastic but is fine for children who are starting kickboxing and are not sure if they want to continue.
The advantage is that synthetic leather boxing gloves are cheaper than leather boxing gloves. The biggest disadvantage, however, is that synthetic leather boxing gloves start to smell faster because they ventilate less well. There is little difference in padding and protection.
We therefore recommend purchasing synthetic leather boxing gloves (PU, skintex) for small children aged 5 to 8 years. At this age, they don’t sweat that much yet, and there is a chance they might quit.
A leather boxing glove is always better than a synthetic leather boxing glove. The latter tends to tear more easily at the seams.
But children don’t hit that hard yet, and if they train once a week, synthetic leather gloves are fine. If children train twice a week, we do recommend leather gloves.
Use of handwraps or inner gloves
We recommend that you let your daughter or son wear inner gloves under the boxing gloves. These absorb the sweat and keep the boxing gloves smelling fresh.
The gloves will also fit a bit more firmly, which is more comfortable during training. We recommend you buy the inner gloves in size XXS or XS for a very reasonable price.
We recommend older children to wear handwraps. These provide more support and protection. It is up to the trainer to decide how and what.
In some of our kids kickboxing sets we include a pair of short handwraps (if included in the set).
Is there a thumb protector present?
All boxing gloves for kids that we sell are equipped with a thumb protector. This means that the thumb is attached to the rest of the glove. This prevents the thumb from bending backward and thus prevents annoying injuries.
Is the color of the kids boxing gloves important?
The color of the boxing gloves is very important to many children. In our store, we see many children who find the color more important than the fit.
Of course, this is not the correct order of importance, and that is why we always try to advise children well. Fortunately, we have most gloves in all colors and sizes so this does not have to be a problem.
Black boxing gloves are always easier to combine with other colors of kickboxing shorts and shin guards than, for example, pink. Keep this in mind when purchasing a pair of boxing gloves.
Do boxing gloves need maintenance?
The most important thing with boxing gloves is to let them ventilate properly. The sweat must evaporate from the boxing gloves. If this does not happen, the boxing gloves will start to smell terribly.
That is why you should always take the boxing gloves out of the sports bag after training and place them somewhere where they can dry. A good place is the garage or on the doormat. Furthermore, you can lightly grease the boxing gloves twice a year with some petroleum jelly. You should only do this if you have leather boxing gloves.
