Every technique. Every training session.

Below, you’ll find everything about which shin guards are best suited to Krav Maga — including the difference between sock-style and pre-shaped models, sizing advice, and care instructions.

Krav Maga shin guards – what makes a model suitable

Krav Maga almost always involves wearing shoes- and that affects your choice. A kickboxing shin guard with a foot section is the right choice: the foot plate protects your opponent when kicking while wearing shoes.

Please note: the elastic straps under the foot are not designed for use with footwear and may become looser or wear out sooner.

Sock-style models with a foot section are therefore not suitable at all- they break very quickly when used with shoes.

The most obvious choice - XPRT All-Round V1

TheXPRT All-Round V1 is the most logical choice for Krav Maga. Compact, lightweight, and available from XXS to XL- suitable for children and adults.

The polycotton construction sits comfortably over the trouser leg, and the foot guard protects your training partner during kicks with shoes.

No oversized hard plate, but sufficient protection for intensive Krav Maga training.

Size advice – brands are not directly comparable

Important: sizes from different brands are not directly comparable. A King SG2 in XL is considerably larger than a Twins SGL7 in XL. Always follow the

size chart for each brand on the product page. The XPRT All-Round V1 ranges from

XXS to XL - for children, we recommend the XPRT All-Round V1 or Protect V1 in the smallest available size.- voor kinderen adviseren we de XPRT All-Round V1 of Protect V1 in de kleinste beschikbare maat.

Which models are suitable for Krav Maga

The best options at Fight2Win for Krav Maga are the XPRT All-Round V1 (poly-cotton, compact, with a foot strap), the XPRT Pro V3 and Twins SGL7 for those who want more protection, and the King SG rangeorHayabusa T3 for advanced practitioners.

With all models, keep the elastic straps under the foot- they are not designed for footwear and require extra attention during maintenance and replacement.

Care – extra attention for the elastic bands

Krav Maga shin guards must never be put in the washing machine. After training, dry them with a towel and allow them to air out completely. When used with footwear, regularly check the elastic straps under the foot

for wear and tear—they are under extra stress during Krav Maga. For Skintex models: clean the outside with a damp cloth. For persistent odors: use an antibacterial spray

such as Sukkiri & Fresh KO. antibacteriële spray zoals de Sukkiri & Fresh KO.

Frequently asked questions — Krav maga shin guards

Can I also come by to try on and buy shin guards directly from you?

Yes.

You can absolutely come by our showroom to try on shin guards and purchase them right away. That way, you’ll know 100% for sure that you’re leaving the showroom with the right shin guards! Our physical showroom has the same stock as our online store.

There is always a specialist available to help you choose the right shin guard for you and your budget.

Is there a difference between women's and men's shin guards?

No.

There aren't really separate men's or women's shin guards. Shin guards are unisex, but women usually simply choose a somewhat smaller size of shin guards. These are available in various color combinations.

Women are generally somewhat shorter than men, so naturally they also need a smaller (and shorter) shin guard.

How long do shin guards last?

With intensive use, most good shin guards last approximately 1 to 1.5 years. After that, most shin guards are due for replacement.

The lifespan naturally depends on several factors: maintenance, the quality of the materials used, and the type of training. Cheaper shin guards will not last this long.

Heavy bag training shortens the lifespan of shin guards by an average of six months.

The elastic straps are a vulnerable point on every pair of shin guards. This material naturally stretches over time. It is therefore important to put on your shin guards carefully and not pull hard on the elastic straps.

How should a shin guard fit?

A shin guard must fit properly around the shin to provide the most effective protection and mobility. A shin guard consists of a safety kick and a shin protector. The part that protects the shin should start just above the ankle and end just below the knee. Ideally, the upper strap should sit on the calf, as placing it in the back of the knee can cause irritation or pain.

What does hook-and-loop fastening mean?

A hook-and-loop closure is used in various products in our range, such as punching mitts, belly pads, headgear, and shin guards.

This type of closure is most commonly found on shin guards. Hook and loop means pulling a strap through a buckle or loop and then bringing it back to tighten it.

Key benefits:

  • Adjustable fit: Hook-and-loop closures provide a precise fit, accommodate different calf sizes, and ensure that the shin guard stays securely in place during movement.
  • Ease of use: These closures are easy to fasten, making them convenient for quick adjustments, especially during training.
  • Secure closure: When properly fastened, hook-and-loop closures provide a secure and reliable fit, preventing the shin guards from shifting or slipping during sports.
  • Durability: High-quality hook-and-loop closures, such as those on the Twins SGL7 shin guards, are often reinforced with multiple rows of stitching for extra durability and can withstand frequent use.

Can I use shin guards on the punching bag?

Yes.

If you have bruises or sore shins, using shin guards is an option.

Using shin guards on a punching bag does leave “scuff marks” (stains, streaks, and smudges) on the shin guards and punching bag.
