Boxing gloves are not sized according to “normal” sizes, but by weight expressed in ounces (oz).

The rule of thumb is: “the heavier the person in question, the heavier the glove they should use”. A heavier boxing glove generally has more padding and is therefore safer for both the hands and the training partner. Trainers generally also prefer you to have heavier boxing gloves rather than lighter ones.

In short, youth train with 6 oz, 8 oz, or 10 oz boxing gloves. Women usually choose 12 oz or 14 oz, and men are often best off choosing 14 oz or 16 oz. Target groups
