Difference between Women's boxing gloves and men's boxing gloves
Women's boxing gloves mainly differ from men's boxing gloves in color and weight; boxing gloves are almost always unisex. Although most brands and manufacturers do not make separate Women's boxing gloves, some martial arts brands like Twins, Hayabusa, and Booster also focus on women. We also have a very extensive selection of Women's boxing gloves from the brand XPRT Fight Gear.
In general, women have smaller hands than men, so the sizing of the boxing gloves is often smaller as well. Be sure to consult the size chart for the Women's boxing gloves you have your eye on.
SIZING WOMEN'S BOXING GLOVES AND KICKBOXING GLOVES
Women typically choose 10 oz or 12 oz boxing gloves. This also depends on the martial arts brand and your own build. About 70% of women choose a 12 oz glove, but if you are smaller and lighter, you might consider a 10 oz boxing glove. If you want to train heavier or are taller, you can of course go for 14 oz boxing gloves.
Women's boxing gloves for beginners
Are you just starting with boxing? Then your training probably mostly consists of hitting a punching bag, punching mitts, or someone else’s boxing gloves. You will mainly be focused on learning the technique and less on sparren or hitting with power.
As a beginner boxer, it is perfectly fine to start with synthetic leather boxing gloves; these gloves are usually more affordable and great for starting boxers.
If you want to go for quality right away, we recommend using 100% leather boxing gloves (or high-quality synthetic materials like those from Rival Boxing Gear and Hayabusa). These have a longer lifespan, smell less quickly, and generally have a better fit.
Women's boxing gloves for advanced users
Are you an advanced boxer? Then besides technique, you probably also focus on the power of your punches. In that case, we always recommend using 100% leather boxing gloves or the top-quality synthetic boxing gloves from Hayabusa and Rival Boxing Gear. These have a longer lifespan, smell less quickly, and generally have a better fit.
When your training involves more power and you also start sparren, it is important to have a good mouthguard and matching headgear to prevent injury.
ADVICE WOMEN'S BOXING GLOVES
When making the right choice, training intensity is also important. To choose the right boxing gloves, it’s good to know what you will use them for. Will you only be sparren (sparring boxing gloves) or mainly do punching bag training (bag gloves) and use the boxing gloves only occasionally? Also, every hand is different and everyone prefers a different boxing glove. So be sure to visit us in the showroom or email us so we can give you personal advice.
