It is recommended to wear ankle guards under your shin guards. These provide compression and support for your metatarsal bones and ankle joint.

In addition, many people find that hard shin guards are more comfortable to wear with ankle guards if the seam between the shin section and the footpiece irritates you.

You can use the same maintenance spray (Sukkiri or FreshKO) for your shin guards as you use for your boxing gloves to keep them fresh.

How should a shin guard (for kickboxing) fit?

In the best case, a shin guard extends exactly to just below your knee

However, we find it at least equally important that the shin guard is not too loose around your legs. So even if it doesn’t quite reach the knee but fits well otherwise, we think that is more important (read: better) than choosing a size larger.

too large shin guard is actually a hindrance and will also tend to slide, which is very annoying during training.

The instep part should at least cover the top of your instep, but with some brands it extends over the entire foot. That’s not necessary. So if your toes stick out - as is the case with the Twins SGL7, for example - that is perfectly fine. After all, you shouldn’t be kicking with your toes.

A shin guard for kickboxing should fit well on your shin, from just below the knee to above the ankle, and should not be too loose or too tight. It should fully cover your shin for optimal protection but must not restrict your movements.

For every shin guard, we have created a unique size chart for that brand and model. Be sure to consult it and when in doubt, choose a smaller size rather than a larger one.

What size XPRT shin guard do I need?

We have added a size chart to each product that you should consult. For the XPRT shin guards, the size charts below serve as a guideline.

If you are around 175 cm tall, you will fit into M or L. If you are unsure or have thin legs, we recommend choosing the smaller size.

Can I use my Xprt Shin guards on the punching bag?

Yes.

In case of bruises or pain in the shins, it is possible to use shin guards.

Using shin guards on the punching bag does cause "scuffmarks" (stains, stripes, and smudges) on the shin guards and punching bag.
